  1. 1. Health effects from occupational hand-arm vibration

    Författare :Per Vihlborg; Pål Graff; Sverre Wikström; Karim Makdoumi; Magnus Svartengren; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hand-arm vibration; Raynaud’s phenomenon; vibration white finger; carpal tunnel syndrome; acute vibration exposure; neuropathy;

    Sammanfattning : Hand-arm vibration (HAV) is a common occupational exposure in Sweden and worldwide that causes both acute transient effects and persistent hand-arm symptoms. The health effects include vibration-induced Raynaud’s phenomenon, neuropathic symptoms, carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), and musculoskeletal disorders. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Hand-arm vibration and working women : Consequences and affecting factors

    Författare :Sonya H Bylund; Lage Burström; Anders Knutsson; Eva Vingård; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Public health; HAV; vibration; women; injuries; power absorption; handle; gender; Folkhälsomedicin; Public health medicine research areas; Folkhälsomedicinska forskningsområden; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; arbets- och miljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : The use of hand-held vibrating tools may lead to hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), a condition with vascular, neurological and musculoskeletal symptoms. Vibrating tools are used in several occupations in which women can be found, e.g. by metal- and wood workers, drivers, and dental personnel. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Effects of cold and hand-arm vibration on the peripheral neurosensory and vascular system : an occupational perspective

    Författare :Daniel Carlsson; Jens Wahlström; Tohr Nilsson; Erik Nordh; Hans Pettersson; Tiina Ikäheimo; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hand-arm vibration; Raynaud’s phenomenon; paresthesia; sensation of cold; hand-arm vibration syndrome; quantitative sensory testing; cold sensitivity; cold; cold exposure; frostbite; Sweden; cold injury; military; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; arbets- och miljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Background In Swedish working life, exposure to cold and exposure to hand-arm vibration (HAV) are two common health hazards. Health effects of HAV in the neurosensory, vascular and musculoskeletal systems are collectively denoted hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), and have been thoroughly studied. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Hand-arm vibration syndrome; Consequences for hand function and quality of life

    Författare :Ragnhild Cederlund; Hållbar vardag och hälsa i ett livsperspektiv; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ortopedi; traumatologi; traumatology; Kirurgi; Surgery; orthopaedics; questionnaires; tests; assessments; outcomes; ill-health; well-being; activities of daily living ADL ; quality of life; hand function; hand symptoms; Vibration exposure; Hand-arm vibration syndrome HAVS ;

    Sammanfattning : Workers exposed to hand-held vibrating machines may risk developing a hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), a condition which can cause chronic impairment and disability. The aims of this thesis were 1) to obtain deeper insight and further knowledge of HAVS and the consequences for hand function, and aspects of quality of life (QoL); 2) to investigate the usefulness of clinical assessments in diagnosing HAVS; 3) to evaluate a treatment method for patients with severe cold intolerance.
