1. Dark Matter in the Solar System, Galaxy, and Beyond
Sammanfattning : There is evidence that dark matter constitutes a majority of the Universe's matter content. Yet, we are ignorant about its nature. Understanding dark matter requires new physics, possibly in the form of a new species of fundamental particles. LÄS MER
2. Stellar kinematics in surveys and simulations
Sammanfattning : We study stellar motions in the Milky Way with N-body simulations and large astrometric samples from ESA's Gaia mission. We identify two kinematic populations for white dwarfs in the Solar neighbourhood. We also investigate the accreted halo and reveal two new structures. LÄS MER
3. The Sun as a laboratory for particle physics
Sammanfattning : In the paper attached to this thesis, Paper I, we have calculated the flux of neutrinos that emanate from cosmic ray collisions in the solar atmosphere. These neutrinos are created in the cascades that follow the primary collision and can travel from their production point to a detector on Earth, interacting with the solar material and oscillating on the way. 4. Dark Matter Phenomenology in Astrophysical Systems
Sammanfattning : There is now a great deal of evidence in support of the existence of a large amount of unseen gravitational mass, commonly called dark matter, from observations in astrophysical systems of sizes ranging from that of dwarf galaxies to the scale of the entire Universe. One of the most promising explanations for this unseen mass is that it consists of a species of unobserved elementary particles. LÄS MER
5. Advances in Stellar Astrophysics from Laboratory Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Investigation of astrophysical plasmas, such as stellar atmospheres, require both knowledge of atomic structure and data. We present laboratory instruments, techniques and tools for acquisition of the data required to derive important atomic parameters such as, wavelengths, oscillator strengths and line profiles. LÄS MER
