1. Hadron Physics in a Polarized World : Exploring Electromagnetic Interactions with Spin Observables
Sammanfattning : The electromagnetic interactions of hadrons serve as a valuable probe of the nature of the strong force at low energies and simultaneously allow for tests of fundamental discrete symmetries. In this thesis, I show how polarization observables can be used to gain an in-depth understanding of these processes and present two analyses of data from the BESIII experiment where such observables have been studied. 2. Charged kaon and proton production in B-hadron decays
Sammanfattning : The production of charged kaons and protons in B-hadron decays has been measured in e+e- annihilations at centre-of-mass energies corresponding to the Z0 mass. In total 1.6 million hadronic Z0 decays were analysed, corresponding to about 690000 B-hadron decays. LÄS MER
3. The Charm of Excited Glue : Charmonium in e+e– and ppbar collisions
Sammanfattning : This thesis treats the mass range of charmonium states and excited gluonic fields in two experiments, BESII and PANDA, and outlines a phenomenological model that connects them.In BESII, e+e– form a charmonium initial state, which is utilised as a source for secondary particles. 4. Particle Phenomenology of Compact Extra Dimensions
Sammanfattning : This thesis is an investigation of the subject of extra dimensions in particle physics. In recent years, there has been a large interest in this subject. In particular, a number of models have been suggested that provide solutions to some of the problem with the current Standard Model of particle physics. LÄS MER
5. Astrophysical and Collider Signatures of Extra Dimensions
Sammanfattning : In recent years, there has been a large interest in the subject of extra dimensions in particle physics. In particular, a number of models have been suggested which provide solutions to some of the problems with the current Standard Model of particle physics, and which could be tested in the next generation of high-energy experiments.
