11. Behaviour and stability of shallow underground constructions
Sammanfattning : The growing needs of urbanization, like more transport possibilities, sewers, maintenance tunnels, the need of constructing shallow tunnels increase. By a better understanding of the mechanical properties and state of stress in the shallow parts of the bedrock it may be possible to determine which factors that are of importance at a specific construction site, and thereby increase the cost efficiency of pre-investigations and the tunnel construction. 12. Nanostructured Cellulose Biocomposites : Effects from dispersion, network and interface
Sammanfattning : The major load bearing component in native wood, cellulose nanofibrils, are potential candidates for use as reinforcement in polymer matrices. This study is based on nanocellulose composites and attempts to prepare and characterize biocomposites with high nanocellulose content and investigate the influence of nanostructure on macroscopic properties. 13. Strength grading of structural timber and EWP laminations of Norway spruce : Development potentials
Sammanfattning : Strength grading of structural timber is a process by which value is added to sawn products. It is to the greater part carried out using machine grading based on statistical relationships between so called indicating properties and bending strength. LÄS MER
14. Enhanced Composite Joint Performance through Interlacement of Metal Inserts
Sammanfattning : The work in this thesis investigates bolted joints in fibre reinforced composites with particular focus on a novel insert concept. The concept is characterised by replacing all composite plies with stacked metal patches, locally around a bolt hole, so that they jointly form a solid metal reinforcement. LÄS MER
15. Mass Stabilization, Stability and Settlement in Mass Stabilized Peat
Sammanfattning : Peat is badly suited as a base for road and railway embankments due to its geotechnical properties. The usual procedure has been, therefore, to excavate peat and replace it with blasted rock. LÄS MER
