  1. 6. Life cycle assessment of electric vehicle batteries and new technologies

    Författare :Mats Zackrisson; Magnus Wiktorsson; Martin Kurdve; Christina Jönsson; Anders Nordelöf; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; life cycle assessment; LCA; electric vehicle; sustainability; eco-design; Production Engineering; Industriell produktion;

    Sammanfattning : Electrification of vehicles has for decades been explored as a possible solution to the problem of climate change. Today, in 2021, the issue is no longer whether the electrification of vehicle fleets ought to happen but rather how it can be achieved with as little environmental impact as possible. LÄS MER

  2. 7. The Story of Phosphorus : Sustainability implications of global phosphorus scarcity for food security

    Författare :Dana Cordell; Stuart White; Jan-Olof Drangert; Julie Wilk; Johan Rockström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; global phosphorus scarcity; peak phosphorus; global food security; sustainable resource use; food production and consumption system; transdisciplinary; systems thinking; global fosforbrist; peak fosfor; global matsäkerhet; hållbar resursanvändning; system för produktion och konsumtion av mat; transdisciplinaritet; systemtänkande; Water in nature and society; Vatten i natur och samhälle;

    Sammanfattning : The story of phosphorus began with the search for the philosopher’s stone, and centuries later the critical role of phosphorus in soil fertility and crop growth was highlighted. Eventually, phosphorus was implicated in the global environmental challenge of eutrophication. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Sustainable consumption for policymakers: measuring, learning and acting

    Författare :Elena Dawkins; Viveka Palm; Mattias Höjer; Åsa Persson; Paul Ekins; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sustainable consumption; environmental pressures; consumption-based indicators; footprint; policymaker; measuring; learning; action; Sweden; Planering och beslutsanalys; Planning and Decision Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Current patterns and levels of consumption are a key driver of unsustainable resource use and pollution, which contributes to global environmental degradation. Rapid reductions in environmental pressures are required to avoid irreversible loss of fragile ecosystems and social and economic crises. Consumption must become sustainable. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Over 60% of global greenhouse gas emissions derive from household consumption patterns. To reach the 1.5-degree target set in the Paris Agreement, new interventions to influence household behaviours are needed. This thesis examined two areas, household electricity consumption and waste sorting, where behaviour plays a large role. LÄS MER

  5. 10. The Global Fashion System : On its social-ecological intertwinedness

    Författare :Celinda Palm; Sarah E. Cornell; Tiina Häyhä; Fredrik Moberg; Kate Fletcher; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Sustainability; Fashion; Social-ecological system; Transdisciplinarity; Critical realism; Positionality; Hållbarhet; Mode; Social-ekologiska system; Tvärvetenskap; Kritisk realism; Positionalitet; vetenskap om hållbar utveckling; Sustainability Science;

    Sammanfattning : The fashion industry contributes to shaping the state of the planet: impacts of production and consumption of textile fast-fashion are rising, and the growing number of sustainability-oriented actions have not slowed current trends. The industry’s (un)sustainability is mainly researched within two epistemic communities: fashion studies concerned with social sustainability, and circular economy focused on material biophysical and technological aspects of material cycles along the value chain.
