    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the present thesis was to improve the welfare of animals in research by refining the perioperative nursing and anaesthesia care of growing pigs in accordance with the 3Rs, replace, reduce and refine.Forty-six pigs were trained during a 14-day acclimatisation period to accept blood and urine sampling and ultrasound examination.     Sammanfattning : The following thesis aims to give more insight into the functional and structural response of the central auditory system to congenital unilateral ear canal atresia (UCA) and the accompanying asymmetric hearing with conductive hearing loss on the atretic side. There is clear evidence that unilateral hearing loss, including UCA, has a negative impact on sound localization ability and perception of speech in noise. LÄS MER
