  1. 21. Cascading extinctions in food webs : local and regional processes

    Författare :Anna Eklöf; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cascading extinctions; complexity; connectance; dispersal; food web; local dynamics; regional dynamics; resistance; spatial structure; species loss;

    Sammanfattning : Ecological communities all over the world are loosing biodiversity due to different kinds of human activities and there is an urgent need of understanding how those losses affect the function of the ecosystems on which we all depend. The community's response to species losses is likely to depend on both the structure of the local community as well as its interactions with surrounding communities. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Modelling and Inference using Locally Stationary Processes : Biomedical applications

    Författare :Rachele Anderson; Statistical Signal Processing Group; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Modelling of Time-Varying Signals; Locally Stationary Processes; Statistical Inference; Time-frequency Estimation; Regression; EEG Signals; HRV Signals;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis considers statistical methods for non-stationary signals, specifically stochastic modelling, inference on the model parameters and optimal spectral estimation. The models are based on Silverman’s definition of Locally Stationary Processes (LSPs). LÄS MER

  3. 23. Encountering Evolution : Children's Meaning-Making Processes in Collaborative Interactions

    Författare :Johanna Frejd; Magnus Hultén; Karin Stolpe; Konrad Schönborn; Christina Siry; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Meaning-making processes; Science Education; Evolution; Multimodality; Collaborative Interaction; Exploratory studies; Meningsskapandeprocesser; Naturvetenskapsundervisning; Evolution; Multimodalitet; Interaktion; Explorativa studier;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores preschool class children’s meaning making processes when they encounter evolution. By adopting social semiotic and sociocultural perspectives on meaning making, three group-based tasks were designed. Video data from the activities were analysed using a multimodal approach. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Dialogues on the Net - Power structures in asynchronous discussions in the context of a web based teacher training course

    Författare :Annette Johnsson; Utbildningsvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; minority; cultural background; sex; ethnicity; gender; age; socio-economic; dialogicity; web based; computer based; CMC; net based; asynchronous; CSCL; teacher education; power structures; dialogues; Group work; team work; symbolic capital; group work;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis is to investigate the interaction processes that occur in group dialogues when teacher students work in small groups, using net based asynchronous dialogues to solve a problem in the area of environmental sustainability. More specifically, the interest is to determine whether students’ net based dialogues give rise to patterns of dominance/subordination similar to those observed in face-to-face situations. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Dynamics in meetings : on leadership and followership in ordinary meetings in different organizations

    Författare :Kjell Granström; Karin Aronsson-Ottosson; Per Linell; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :group processes; leadership; followership; decision-making; the school as an organization; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : A method for analyzing interactional dynamics in regular meetings and sessions was developed on the basis of Bion's (1961) basic-assumption model. This model postulates that members in groups frequently take part in collective defence activities which prevent the group from carrying out the tasks assigned to them. LÄS MER
