  1. 1. Towards prediction in ungauged aquifers – methods for comparative regional analysis

    Författare :Ezra Haaf; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Groundwater; Prediction in ungagued aquifers; Comparative hydrogeology; Similarity; Groundwater hydrographs; Groundwater dynamics; Time series clustering; Groundwater climate interaction; Classification; Regression; Groundwater storage; Groundwater resources management;

    Sammanfattning : Hydrogeological investigations and in particular groundwater resource assessments are strongly reliant on understanding the factors controlling groundwater level dynamics. However, historical records of measured groundwater levels are often scarce and unevenly distributed in space and time. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Effective Sampling Design for Groundwater Transport Models

    Författare :Rune Nordqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Sampling design; design robustness; D-optimality; groundwater models; parameter estimation; model discrimination; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Hydrology; hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Model reliability is important when groundwater models are used for evaluation of environmental impact and water resource management. Model attributes such as geohydrologic units and parameter values need to be quantified in order to obtain reliable results. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Topographic Control of Groundwater Flow

    Författare :Lars Marklund; Anders Wörman; Shulan Xu; Roy Haggerty; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Groundwater; Modeling; Topography; Spectral analysis; Fourier series; Exact solu-tions; Multi-scale; Grundvatten; Modellering; Topografi; Spektralanalys; Fourier serier; Analytisk lösning; Flerskalig; Hydrology; Hydrologi; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Gravity is the main driving force for groundwater flow, and both landscape topography and geology distribute the effects of gravity on groundwater flow.  The groundwater table defines the distribution of the potential energy of the water. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Modelling of Groundwater Conditions in Silts and Fine Sands. A Study of Induced Groundwater Changes Based on Laboratory and Full-Scale Field Tests

    Författare :Marius Tremblay; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fine sand; laboratory tests; numerical simulation; silt; soil mechanics; groundwater; pore pressure; field tests; soil matric suction; partially saturated soil; groundwater conditions;

    Sammanfattning : Every day, geotechnical engineers have to deal with groundwater problems. In order to find suitable solutions to these problems, modelling of the groundwater conditions and their variations in time has to be performed. A study of the groundwater conditions in silts and fine sands was made including laboratory and full-scale field tests. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Analytic Element Models for Groundwater Flow and Linear Elasticity in Fractured Rocks

    Författare :Erik Toller; Auli Niemi; Otto Strack; Qinghua Lei; James Craig; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Analytic element method; fractures; tunnels; complex variables; linear elasticity; groundwater; fractured rock; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : There is an increasing demand for using deep underground space at various scales, such as small-scale geothermal wells and large-scale projects like tunnels or nuclear waste disposal. The deep underground space in fractured rock is a heterogeneous and challenging medium. LÄS MER
