1. Leg ulcer management in primary care with special reference to pinch grafting
Sammanfattning : Wound management in primary and community care was investigated throughout a period of 12 years within a well-defined population in one county in Southern Sweden. The estimated prevalence of chronic leg and foot ulcers was 0.19% in 1998 and the mean prevalence was 0.20% during the years 1994-1998. LÄS MER
2. Tracing water transport pathways in the coupled ocean-atmosphere system
Sammanfattning : Water is the most precious substance on the Earth and thus it is important to know how it moves around and is recycled. This knowledge will be useful to formulate educated future strategies about water usage in society and also to understand the near-surface salinity contrasts in the world ocean. 3. Effective use of X rays in diagnostic radiology : Guidance for the optimisation of image quality and absorbed dose in the patient by use of a Monte Carlo computational model of the imaging chain
Sammanfattning : The primary objective of this thesis is to give guidance for the reduction of absorbed dose in the patient and the improvement of image quality by the optimisation of the various parameters which control the performance of the radiological imaging system. The optimisation means that image quality (contrast in screen-film imaging and signal-to-noise ratio in digital imaging) is kept constant and combinations of operating parameters which yields the lowest mean absorbed dose in the patient is determined. 4. Real-Time GPU Algorithms: Parallel Primitives and Rendering of Participating Media
Sammanfattning : Modern graphics processing units, GPUs, present an immense resource of computational power, that however remains challenging to fully harness. This thesis explores four algorithms and methods that attempt to take full advantage of the resources provided by a GPU. LÄS MER
5. Level-set methods and geodesic distance functions
Sammanfattning : The work in this thesis focuses on efficient implementations of level-set methods and geodesic distance functions. The level-set method is a grid based design that inherits many favorable traits from implicit geometry. LÄS MER
