  1. 1. Plant community assembly in grazed grasslands

    Författare :Bryndís Marteinsdóttir; Eriksson Ove; Cousins Sara A. O.; Johan Ehrlén; Meelis Pärtel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Assembly rules; dispersal limitation; environmental filtering; establishment limitation; ex-arable fields; functional traits; landscape history; semi-natural grasslands; seed bank; seed augmentation; seed rain; trait based filtering; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Species assembly into local communities from the surrounding region can be caused either by species failure to reach the site (i.e. seed limitation) or to establish (i.e. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Conservation of semi-natural grasslands : Effects of different management methods on biodiversity

    Författare :Malin Tälle; Lars Westerberg; Per Milberg; Uno Wennergren; Hans Henrik Bruun; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Species-rich semi-natural grassland are valuable habitats in the agricultural landscape as they may contain a high diversity of both plant and animal species, as well as provide essential ecosystem services like pollination. To keep these habitats open and to maintain the biodiversity in them, management like grazing or mowing is necessary. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Monitoring biodiversity in cultural landscapes: development of remote sensing- and GIS-based methods

    Författare :Jonas Dalmayne; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :Remote sensing; statistical modeling; spatial scales; partial least squares; support vector machines; grazed grasslands; LULC; HySpex; Worldview-2; Landsat; heterogeneity; landscape complexity; plant species diversity;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I explore the relationships between structural and compositional landscape properties, and species diversity, using remotely sensed data on a variety of spatial scales. The thesis shows that increased landscape heterogeneity, measured using environmental and spectral variables that were used both separately and combined, is generally positively related to plant species richness. 4. 4. Land Use Change in Space and Time : implications for plant species conservation in semi-natural grasslands

    Författare :Regina Lindborg; Ove Eriksson; Johan Ehrlén; Thomas Elmqvist; Markus Fischer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diversity; management; restoration; landscape; history; Population viability analysis; seed-sowing; Primula farinosa; Campanula rotundifolia; grazing; fragmentation; extinction risk; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Land use change has during the last century altered the traditional rural landscape in Sweden, resulting in a major decline in species diversity. Traditional small-scale farming, with a remarkably high small-scale species richness, has changed in favour of rationalized agriculture, and many semi-natural grasslands, i.e. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Regional and local variation in plant species richness

    Författare :Cecilia Dupré; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; coastal meadows; deciduous forests; dry grasslands; grazing; habitat configuration; habitat quality; hump-shaped curve; life history traits; regional species pool; soil factors; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi; ekologisk botanik; Ecological Botany;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I examine the variation in plant species richness along gradients of productivity and disturbance in grasslands and forest habitats in southern Sweden, and I compare the documented patterns with theoretical predictions. Moreover, I evaluate the relative importance of habitat quality and habitat configuration for the occurrence of field layer species in deciduous forests. LÄS MER
