  1. 11. Enhancing bone healing through concurrent anabolic- and anti-catabolic pharmacological treatment

    Författare :Per Bosemark; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; autograft; BMP; bisphosphonate; nonunion; Masquelet;

    Sammanfattning : Most fractures heal uneventfully but some evolve into nonunions. Autologous bone graft is the gold standard for stimulating healing. However, donor site morbidity, and limited graft supply make alternatives interesting. Bone Morphogenetic Proteins, BMPs, are growth factors involved in bone signaling. LÄS MER

  2. 12. On healing of titanium implants in biphasic calcium phosphate

    Författare :Christer Lindgren; Mats Hallman; Per Aspenberg; Lars Andersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Previously, autogenous bone was considered the gold standard for grafting procedures in implant surgery. Today, the use of bone graft substitutes is an alternative for sinus lift procedures. Nevertheless, only a few bone substitutes are well documented and can be recommended as an alternative to autogenous bone grafts. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Autogenous free tooth transplantation with a two-stage operation technique

    Författare :Gunnar Nethander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : If tooth transplantation is to succeed, it is crucial to preserve the vitality of the cells on the root surface of the tooth transplant. Insufficient nutrition, postoperatively, to the cells on the root surface of the tooth transplant was thought to contribute to devitalisation of these cells. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Gastro-intestinal toxicity related to haemopoietic stem cell transplantation with a special focus on the intestinal barrier function

    Författare :Jan-Erik Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The myeloablative, cytotoxic therapy (conditioning treatment) prior to haemopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) has the combined purpose of eliminating leukaemic or cancer cells located in the bone marrow or elsewhere in the body and, in the allogeneic setting, of suppressing the immune response of the recipient to prevent marrow rejection. The unwanted effect is the inevitable elimination of normal, haemopoietic stem cells, a lethal effect which is circumvented by the following administration of haemopoietic stem cells from the patient (autologous HSCT) or from a related or an unrelated donor (allogeneic HSCT). 5. 15. Osteonecrosis. Prognosis and Prevention of the Consequences of Osteonecrosis

    Författare :Jan Juréus; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Background Osteonecrosis (ON) is defined by the in situ death of bone cells, osteocytes, hematopoietic and fatty marrow precursor cells. Events and risk factors known to be associated with ON are femoral neck fracture, hip dislocation, slipped capital femoral epiphysis in children, humeral head fracture and insufficiency fractures in load-bearing joints.
