6. On Peritectic Reactions and Transformations and Hot Forming of Cast Structures
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with peritectic reactions and transformations that occur during the solidification of many alloys. Peritectics are believed to be a major cause of crack-formation in many steels, thus, good knowledge of the mechanisms by which these phenomena occur is essential for preventing such defects. LÄS MER
7. Characteristics of cast aluminium-silicon alloys : microstructures and mechanical properties
Sammanfattning : Applications of aluminium alloys are spreading in many industrial fields due to the excellent combination of castability, mechanical performance and lightness assured by such material. This project aims to establish a methodology in bringing the foundry process closer to the casting designer, and thereby leading to a more reliable and more optimised design. LÄS MER
8. Characteristics of cast magnesium alloys : microstructures, defects and mechanical properties
Sammanfattning : Magnesium is the lightest of all structural metals. As such, and combined with good mechanical and physical properties, it forms the basis for commercial alloys that have found successful use in a wide variety of applications. LÄS MER
9. On the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-Al alloys
Sammanfattning : The microstructural features and the mechanical properties of binary Mg-Al alloys have been investigated by using a gradient solidification technique. Homogeneous and nearly defect-free samples were produced under well controlled cooling conditions, through which the microstructural characteristics as well as the relationships between microstructure and mechanical properties in Mg-AI alloys were precisely defined. 10. Electron beam-powder bed fusion of Alloy 718 : Effect of process parameters on microstructure evolution
Sammanfattning : Additive manufacturing (AM) is the technology of building 3D parts through layer-by-layer addition of material. Of the different types of AM techniques, electron beam-powder bed fusion (EB-PBF) has been used in this study. EB-PBF can build parts by melting metallic powders using an electron beam as the energy source. LÄS MER
