    Sammanfattning : The relation between the process and mechanical properties in aluminium alloys for castings has been examined. The relation was hard to define since the spread in data was severe due to defects created in the casting process. To avoid such defects a gradient solidification equipment was built. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The possibility of cluster formation during solidication of steel is explored to explain structures that are seen on the fracture surface of the steel.     Sammanfattning : The study was carried out with the aim to evaluate the origin, morphology, and distribution of the non-metallic inclusions (NMI) in electro-slag remelted (ESR) steels and in electro-slag remelted steels using a pressured controlled inert atmosphere (PESR). In addition to the NMI studies, the solidification structure in different ingot sizes were studied in order to define the influence of the solidification on the NMI characteristics. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with peritectic reactions and transformations that occur during the solidification of many alloys. Peritectics are believed to be a major cause of crack-formation in many steels, thus, good knowledge of the mechanisms by which these phenomena occur is essential for preventing such defects. LÄS MER
