11. Protein mass spectrometry in the drug discovery process
Sammanfattning : Most targets for drug discovery are proteins. Drug discovery includes target identification and validation, structural biology, lead generation, lead optimisation, pre-clinical development and clinical trials. The overall aim of this thesis is to apply protein mass spectrometry (MS) in the early drug discovery process. LÄS MER
12. Design strategies for new drugs targeting multicomponent systems : focusing on class II MHC proteins and acetylcholinesterase
Sammanfattning : The field of medicinal chemistry is constantly evolving. Aided by advances within techniques as well as knowledge of biological systems, increasingly complex targets and drugs can be considered. LÄS MER
13. Moleculary imprinted micro- and nanoparticles for cancer associated glycan motifs
Sammanfattning : Sialic acids are an important family of monosaccharides that are typically found as terminal moieties of glycans. Aberrant sialylation has been proven to correlate with various diseases including cancer. Glycosylation analysis is complex due to high diversityof the glycan isomers and their low abundance. LÄS MER
14. Coagulase-negative staphylococci in hematological malignancy
Sammanfattning : Bacterial infections are common in hematological malignancy. Coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS) are among the most prevalent causes of bacteremia in patients with hematological malignancies. LÄS MER
15. T cells in Autoimmunity: studies on murine type II collagen-induced arthritis
Sammanfattning : Collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) is a mouse model for rheumatoid arthritis, in which autoimmunity is induced by immunization with type II collagen (CII), a cartilage-specific protein. In the present work, alpha/beta T cells were shown to be required for CIA and for the production of anti-CII IgG antibodies, whereas gamma/delta T cells were neither necessary nor sufficient for development of CIA.
