    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Affinity; Aromatic amino acids; Binding; Biomembrane; Biotin; Chromatography; Cytochalasin B; Dihydrocytochalasin B; Dissociation constant; Drug absorption; Ethanol; Equilibrium; Glucose; GLUT1; Immobilization; Immobilized biomembrane affinity chromatography; Immobilized liposome chromatography; Interaction; Liposome; Membrane protein; Membrane vesicle; Partitioning; Phospholipid bilayer; Proteoliposome; Quantitative; Red blood cell; Specific; Streptavidin; Tyrosine; Tryptophan; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The human glucose transporter GLUT1 is abundant in red blood cells, the blood-brain barrier and epithelial cells, where it mediates the transport of the energy metabolite, glucose. In the present work some properties of GLUT1, including affinity binding of both substrates and inhibitors, transport rates as well as permeabilities of aromatic amino acids and drug-membrane interactions were analyzed by chromatographic methods. 2. 2. Glucose and glycerol transport in adipocytes from a structural perspective

    Författare :Peng Huang; Medicinsk strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adipocytes; glucose and glycerol metabolism; glucose transporters; aquaglyceroporins; glucose transporter 4; aquaglyceroporin 7; protein and protein interaction; structure; single particle cryo-EM;

    Sammanfattning : Adipocytes are crucial energy reservoirs to maintain metabolic homeostasis of glucose and lipids in the human body.Glucose transporters (GLUTs) and aquaporins (AQPs) play an important role in metabolic regulation of glucose andlipids in human adipocytes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. β-adrenergic regulation of glucose transporters

    Författare :Olof Dallner; Tore Bengtsson; Jeffrey Pessin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adrenergic receptors; glucose transporters; Physiology; Fysiologi; fysiologi; Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : The transport of glucose across the plasma membrane is a fundamental mechanism to provide cells with its basic requirements for energy yielding processes. It is also vital for clearing glucose from blood into tissues, a process normally stimulated by the hormone insulin in mammals. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Placental transport of glucose and amino acids in early pregnancy. Cellular mechanisms, regulation and relation to diabetes

    Författare :Anette Ericsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :placental transport; diabetes; first trimester; GLUT; system A; hyperglycemia;

    Sammanfattning : Despite strict glycemic control of the pregnant woman with type 1 diabetes fetal overgrowth is still common. The first trimester is often characterized by sub-optimal glucose levels and elevated HbA1C in early pregnancy is a predictor of fetal overgrowth. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Regulation of glucose transport and insulin-stimulated GLUT4 translocation in skeletal muscle

    Författare :Jorge E Rincón Viatela; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :skeletal muscle; glucose transport; insulin resistance; hyperglycaemia; steroid hormones; smoking; nicotine;

    Sammanfattning : Skeletal muscle represents about 40% of body mass and accounts for at least 80% of glucose disposal under insulin-stimulated conditions. Furthermore, GLUT4 transport protein is the primary component of the glucose transport system in skeletal muscle. LÄS MER
