  1. 11. Electrophysiology of pancreatic A-, B- and D-cells studied in intact mouse islets of Langerhans

    Författare :Sven Göpel; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; somatostatin; glucagon; insulin; patch-clamp; membrane potential; Pancreatic islet; ion channel; diabetes; Physiology; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The electrophysiological properties of insulin-secreting b-cells, glucagon-releasing a-cells and somatostation-producing d-cells in intact mouse pancreatic islets were investigated using the perforated patch whole-cell technique. It is demonstrated that it is possible to functionally identify the different cell types in situ. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Metabolic and endocrine effects of SGLT2 inhibition

    Författare :Per Lundkvist; Jan Eriksson; Lars Lind; Maria J Pereira; Michael Alvarsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SGLT2 inhibition; GLP-1 receptor agonism; DPP4 inhibition; NAFLD; prediabetes; type 2 diabetes; obesity; metabolic syndrome; glucagon.; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D) are two growing global health problems with similar comorbidity profiles. SGLT2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) improve blood glucose control and can relieve both T2D and obesity, as well as their associated health problems such as hypertension, kidney failure, and cardiovascular disease. 3. 13. Control of metabolism and hormone secretion from pancreatic alpha and beta cells

    Författare :Jelena Stamenkovic; Diabetes - molekylär metabolism; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CLOCK genes; insulin; glucagon; metabolites; mitochondria; knock out;

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) is a multifactorial disease, which has made it difficult to resolve its pathophysiology. We investigated processes that could contribute to the development of T2D. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Neuroendocrine studies in patients with affective disorders

    Författare :Marie Bendix; Jussi Jokinen; Marie Bixo; Viktor Kaldo; Maria Petersson; Anna-Carin Wihlbäck; Wieslaw J. Cubala; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Affective disorder; Suicide attempt; Postpartum depression; Postpartum psychosis; Personality traits; Violence; Oxytocin; Insulin; Glucagon; Allopregnanolone; Progesterone; Estradiol;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Affective disorders are common and a major cause for increased disability and mortality worldwide. Exogenous stressors and biological variables, including neuroendocrine factors, are assumed to contribute to an increased vulnerability to mood dysregulation. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Metabolic alterations in patients with self-inflicted aggressive behaviour

    Författare :Sofie Westling; Lund Psykiatri; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Aggression; insulin; glucose; glucagon; deliberate self-harm; IL-1beta; leptin; suicide attempt.;

    Sammanfattning : Self-inflicted aggressive behaviour is a cross diagnostic phenomenon of major clinical relevance in psychiatric setting. Accumulating evidence speaks for a role of metabolic and immunological factors in aggressive behaviour. LÄS MER
