1. Endogenous proteins as markers of glomerular function and dysfunction
Sammanfattning : Plasma and urine concentrations of endogenous proteins are frequently used in the diagnosis of kidney diseases and in studies of glomerular filter function. The main issues addressed in these studies were: storage of urine samples for subsequent protein analysis, use of protein concentrations in urine and in plasma in health and as markers of glomerular diseases, and the application of renal plasma-to-urine clearance of endogenous proteins in estimating the size-selectivity properties of the glomerular capillary wall. 2. Urinary Biomarkers and Patient Outcome in Chronic Kidney Disease and Atherosclerotic Heart Disease: The value of IgM-uria and IgG-uria
Sammanfattning : Risk stratification of patients with chronic kidney disease and atherosclerotic heart disease is crucial. Microalbuminuria (MA) is associated with an increased risk of kidney and cardiovascular (CV) death, especially in patients with diabetes. LÄS MER
3. Properties of the glomerular endothelial cell surface layer in vitro and in vivo
Sammanfattning : A healthy kidney produces final urine that is practically devoid of proteins and other physiologically important solutes. Tremendous amounts of fluid are filtered every day through the glomerular filtration barrier which is the actual sieving site in the kidney. LÄS MER
4. Molecular perspectives on glomerular cell physiology in chronic kidney disease
Sammanfattning : Glomerulonephritis is one of the most common causes of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the world. Recent establishment of guidelines for classification of CKD in five stages has led to increased awareness of the risks of comorbidity and mortality, also in patients with early stages of disease, and the need to further advance our understanding of their pathogenic mechanisms. 5. A Study of Renal Function in Children with Cancer
Sammanfattning : Evaluation of long-term side effects of treatment is important due to the growing number of childhood cancer survivors. How kidney function is affected over time needs to be clarified. LÄS MER
