17. Reconciliation and the Search for a Shared Moral Landscape – An exploration based upon a study of Northern Ireland and South Africa
Sammanfattning : In Northern Ireland and South Africa obstacles to reconciliation were found in these elements of a “moral landscape”: – Experiences of trauma, separation and inequalities, – Divergent views of the conflict and of “the other”, – Opposing identifications and loyalties, – Norms for interaction, – Contestant interpretations of values such as “peace” and “justice”. This study describes how these obstacles have been addressed in: 1) Efforts, particularly by ecumenical groups, to bridge the Catholic/Protestant divide in Northern Ireland. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : Male violence against women in intimate partner relationships is a global public health problem and a serious crime, but remains largely underreported. The overall ain of this thesis was, by means of an interdisciplinary approach and from the perspectives of gender, public health and law, to gain a deeper understanding of the situation of abused women, by studying, on one hand, their leaving processes and, on the other, the consequences of the violence for their health. 19. Rhythm of the job stress blues : Psychosocial working conditions and depression in working life and across retirement
Sammanfattning : A work environment characterized by poor psychosocial working conditions may lead to stress and mental health problems such as depression, a common and burdensome public health problem with significant consequences for individuals and for society at large. A number of psychosocial working characteristics have been found to be associated with increased depressive symptoms or clinical depression. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : This thesis emanates from the discursive gap between a medical discourse andexperience-driven knowledges in mental health aspects of hormonal contraceptives.The tensions and fractures between a medical discourse focusing on contraceptiveeffectiveness and largely refuting any significant adverse outcomes, and experiencebasednarratives of commonplace detrimental, or at least unwelcome and unpleasant,mental health effects, is apparent.
