  1. 1. Gliadin-Blocking Peptides In vitro assessment of their potential to alleviate celiac disease development

    Författare :Karolina Hoffmann; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; high-gliadin affinity blocking peptides; Caco-2 cells; in vitro digestion; tissue transglutaminase; celiac disease; gliadin; α-amylase trypsin inhibitors;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis work aimed to investigate the potential of synthetic peptides as agents to block wheat prolamins (gliadins) that trigger the development of symptoms in celiac disease. The first step of this investigation included selection and synthesis of peptides with high affinity to gliadins and assessment of the potential of these so-called blocking peptides to limit gliadin reactivity in vitro. 2. 2. Serologic Markers in Screening for Coeliac Disease, Clinical significance and immunogenetic basis

    Författare :Klas Sjöberg; Gastroenterologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gastro-enterology; transglutaminase; specificity; sensitivity; prevalence; HLA; liver disease; endomysial antibodies; gliadin antibodies; diabetes; Autoimmune disease; coeliac disease; Gastroenterologi;

    Sammanfattning : The prevalence of coeliac disease (CD) was initially estimated to 1/1537. Based on serial analysis [GA and endomysial antibodies (EMA)], the prevalence was 6/1970 (0.30%). In autoimmune chronic hepatitis 5. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Crohn's disease : Studies on epidemiology, twins, aetiological factors and clinical course with special reference to smoking

    Författare :Eva Lindberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Crohn s disease; epidemiology; incidence; prevalence; smoking; genetics; twins; dietary antigens; yeast; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; mannan; gliadin; betalactoglobulin; ovalbuntin; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : In an epidemiological study of the incidence of Crohn's disease in Orebro county during the 25-year period 1963-1987, the mean annual incidence was 6.1/105 inhabitants. During the first five year period the mean incidence was 4.3 but during the following four quinquennia the incidence was stable at around 6. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Coeliac disease : Clinical and immunological aspects

    Författare :Tony Hansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Coeliac disease; cytokines; TGF-beta; tissue transglutaminase; IL-4; IFN-gamma; TNF-alpha; ELISPOT; anti-endomysiumantibodies; anti-gliadin antibodies; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Klinisk immunologi; Clinical Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : A better immunological definition of coeliac disease and highly discriminatory serum markers are needed to identify children with early mucosal lesions and for rapid follow-up and a better knowledge of antigen reactivity and cytokine production will be needed to clarify the pathogenic mechanisms.The numbers of circulating IgAanti-gliadin antibody-producing (IgAAGA SFC) cells were increased in patients with untreated coeliac disease compared to controls and treated coeliac disease patients. 5. 5. Coeliac Disease: aspects in different child populations

    Författare :Annelie Carlsson; Lund Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; EMA; Turner´s syndrome; Down´s syndrome; screening; diabetes mellitus; prevalence; coeliac disease; gluten; AGA; endomysium antibodies; IgA-gliadinantibodies; Pediatrics; Pediatri;

    Sammanfattning : The true prevalence of coeliac disease includes patients with symptomatic/diagnosed disease, and silent or undiagnosed disease. The incidence of diagnosed coeliac disease increased steeply in Swedish children born after 1982, when a change in infant feeding recommendations was made. LÄS MER
