1. Design, Processing, and Characterization of High Frequency Flip Chip Interconnects
Sammanfattning : The demands for high frequency interconnect techniques for microwave integrated circuits (ICs) are growing with increasing operating frequencies of wireless communication systems. Interconnects have significant effect and impact on the overall system performance at high frequencies. LÄS MER
2. Towards measuring quantum sound
Sammanfattning : One of the most fundamental phenomena occurring in nature is the interaction between single atoms and electromagnetic fields. This is studied in quantum optics to probe the quantum nature of the system. In appended Paper I, we demonstrated that an artificial atom can couple to propagating sound, which is the acoustic analogue of quantum optics. LÄS MER
3. Electrical Characterisation of III-V Nanowire MOSFETs
Sammanfattning : The ever increasing demand for faster and more energy-efficient electricalcomputation and communication presents severe challenges for the semiconductor industry and particularly for the metal-oxidesemiconductorfield-effect transistor (MOSFET), which is the workhorse of modern electronics. III-V materials exhibit higher carrier mobilities than the most commonly used MOSFET material Si so that the realisation of III-V MOSFETs can enable higher operation speeds and lower drive voltages than that which is possible in Si electronics. 4. The transistor, with emphasis on its use for radio frequency telecommunication
Sammanfattning : This thesis is about transistors, integrated circuits and techniques to fabricate electronic devices in semiconductor materials. The most important application area for the transistors studied in the thesis is radio frequency telecommunication. LÄS MER
5. Electromagnetic Waves in Media with Ferromagnetic Losses
Sammanfattning : The operation of a wide variety of applications in today's modern society are heavily dependent on the magnetic properties of ferromagnetic materials and their interaction with electromagnetic fields. The understanding of these interactions and the associated loss mechanisms is therefore crucial for the improvement and future development of such applications. LÄS MER
