  1. 1. Retinoids in the modulation of vascular inflammation

    Författare :Andreas Gidlöf; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Retinoids; metabolism; vascular smooth muscle cell; nitric oxide; inflammation; proliferation; restenosis;

    Sammanfattning : Vascular disease is multifactorial. Smooth muscle cells, the major constituent of the normal vessel wall, play a pivotal role. The pathogenesis includes cellular differentiation, proliferation and inflammatory activation. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Visual attention during decision-making in natural environments

    Författare :Kerstin Gidlöf; Kognitionsvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; decision-making; visual attention; process tracing; consumer behaviour;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates visual attention during decision-making in natural environments in four different studies. The first study demonstrated that decisions in the supermarket were suboptimal and this did not seem to relate to the amount of products attended to or the amount of time spent on each product. 3. 3. Clinical and Biological Aspects of Cardiovascular microRNA

    Författare :Olof Gidlöf; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Ischemic heart disease is the leading cause of death in high-income parts of the world and is caused mainly by atherosclerosis in the coronary arteries. The rupture of an atherosclerotic plaque with subsequent platelet activation and clot formation can lead to myocardial infarction (MI). LÄS MER

  4. 4. GALIELLALACTONE ANALOGUES – SYNTHESIS AND PROPERTIES

    Författare :Ritha Gidlöf; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Galiellalactone; one-pot peptide coupling and intramolecular Michael addition; tandem palladium-catalyzed carbonylation intramolecular Diels-Alder; STAT3 inhibition;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer cells use normal cell signalling pathways in a proliferative fashion in order to prolong their own survival. Inhibition of one of the major signal proteins, STAT3 (Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3) has previously been shown to induce apoptosis. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Congenital adrenal hyperplasia, cyp21a2 deficiency : clinical and physiological aspects of pregnancy, screening and growth

    Författare :Sebastian Gidlöf; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The subjects dealt with in this thesis are clinical aspects of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), such as neonatal screening, growth and the incidence of CAH during the last century in Sweden. In addition, we have used CAH as a model system to study possible prenatal effects of androgen exposure on growth and gestational length. LÄS MER
