  1. 1. Chronic Hypertension and Pregnancy : Epidemiological Aspects on Maternal and Perinatal Complications

    Författare :Karin Zetterström; Solveig Lindeberg; Ulf Hanson; Bengt Haglund; Henry Nisell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Obstetrics and gynaecology; chronic hypertension; preeclampsia; gestational diabetes; abruptio placenta; SGA; perinatal death; stillbirth; neonatal death; gender; generation; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar;

    Sammanfattning : These studies were undertaken to investigate risks of maternal and perinatal complications in pregnant women with chronic hypertensive disease, and to investigate future risk of preeclampsia in women born small for gestational age (SGA). Population based cohort studies using the Swedish Medical Birth Register from different years were performed. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Born Small for Gestational Age : Beyond Size at Birth

    Författare :Linda Lindström; Anna-Karin Wikström; Eva Bergman; Maria Lundgren; Kjell Å Salvesen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Small for Gestational Age; SGA; Epidemiology; Pregnancy; Postnatal growth; Intrauterine growth restriction; Chronic hypertension; School performance; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Sammanfattning : Children born small for gestational age (SGA) run increased risk of perinatal morbidity and mortality, but also of long-term health impairment. Risks on long term may vary depending on postnatal growth patterns. LÄS MER

  3. 3. From Birth to Senescence. Studies on factors at birth and their relation to morbidity in women in adult life

    Författare :Susan W. Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; birth weight; birth length; gestational age; recall; epidemiology; longitudinal; middle age; women; blood pressure; hypertension; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with factors at birth and their relation to disease in later adulthood. The aims of this thesis were to a) identify variables in Swedish midwife records at the early part of the 1900's and their relation to birth outcome; b) assess agreement between self-reported birth weight and recorded birth weight; and, c) examine the relationship between size at birth and 1) hypertension, and, 2) cancer morbidity in adult women. 4. 4. Long-term follow-up of adult women with urinary tract infection in childhood

    Författare :Carin Gebäck; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ambulatory blood pressure; blood pressure; chronic kidney disease; DMSA scan; glomerular filtration rate; hypertension; pregnancy; renal damage; renal function; urinary tract infection; vesicoureteral reflux;

    Sammanfattning : Acute pyelonephritis is common in young children and can lead to permanent renal damage. Renal damage increases the risk of complications such as hypertension and decreased renal function later in life. For women with renal damage there is also an increased risk of pregnancy complications. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Long-term metabolic effects of a high birth weight

    Författare :Inger W Johnsson; Jan Gustafsson; Fredrik Ahlsson; Maria Lundgren; Ola Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Body composition; Cardiovascular risk factors; Gestational diabetes; Glucose tolerance; High birth weight; Insulin sensitivity; Large for gestational age; Obesity; Offspring macrosomia; Type 2 diabetes; Endocrinology and Diabetology; Endokrinologi och Diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : The intrauterine environment influences foetal growth as well as future response to risk factors for disease. This occurs partly through epigenetic mechanisms. Thus, birth weight is a possible risk marker of adult disease. LÄS MER
