  1. 1. Integrated geophysical-geochemical methods for archaeological prospecting

    Författare :Kjell Persson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geophysics; geophysical; geochemical; prospecting; archaeology; electric; magnetometric; Geofysik; Geophysics; Geofysik;

    Sammanfattning : A great number of field measurements with different methods and instruments were conducted in attempts to develop a method for an optimal combination of various geochemical and geophysical methods in archaeological prospecting. The research presented in this thesis focuses on a study of how different anthropogenic changes in the ground can be detected by geochemical and geophysical mapping and how the results can be presented. Sammanfattning : Climate Change is caused by the accelerated increase of anthropogenic greenhousegas emissions to the atmosphere and affects all ecosystems on our planet. A resultof higher CO2 uptake by the oceans as well as an increase of heat trapped in theatmosphere leads to, for example acidification, stratification, sea-level rise, oxygenloss, and temperature increase of the earth’s waterbodies. 3. 3. Developing geochemical and mineralogical proxies for the correlation of paleotsunami layers

    Författare :Linda Löwhagen; Malin Kylander; Stefan Wastegård; Eve Arnold; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Marine Geology; maringeologi;

    Sammanfattning : The catastrophic Indian Ocean tsunami of December 2004 raised urgent questions about the paleotsunami history in the region. Numerous studies have since been conducted to gain better understanding of the magnitude, frequency and impact of past tsunamis, especially around the coasts of the Indian Ocean. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Geochemical processes in sulphidic mine tailings : field and laboratory studies performed in northern Sweden at the Laver, Stekenjokk and Kristineberg mine-sites

    Författare :Henning Holmström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents geochemical, mineralogical and laboratory studies of unremediated and remediated tailings at two abandoned mine sites; at Laver and Stekenjokk and at one active mine site; the Kristineberg mine. At Laver the Cu released from oxidation is enriched in an enrichment zone just below the oxidation front. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Sulphide oxidation and geochemical processes in mine tailings

    Författare :Lena Alakangas; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Sammanfattning : The generation of acid mine drainage (AMD) from oxidation of sulphide- bearing waste is a world wide problem, due to low pH levels and the release of metals to recipients. It is therefore important to understand the fundamental geochemical processes occurring in mine waste. LÄS MER
