  1. 1. Repurposing brownfields as urban greenspace with gentle remediation options: A circular outlook

    Författare :Shaswati Chowdhury; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gentle Remediation Options GROs ; Ecosystem Services ES ; Urban Greenspaces UGSs ; Brownfields; Circular Economy CE ;

    Sammanfattning : Circular Economy (CE) is regarded as an efficient strategy to address the challenges arising from the linear ‘take-make-use-dispose’ system of exploitation of resources. Urban land and soil are among the most exploited resources wherein brownfields, the potentially contaminated and currently obsolete land, can be considered the waste of the linear land use system. 2. 2. Opportunity Windows and Added Value of Gentle Remediation Options for Contaminated Land Management

    Författare :Paul Drenning; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sustainable and Risk-Based Land Management SRBLM ; Ecosystem services; Soil health; Phytomanagement; Soil functions; Cost-benefit analysis; Gentle remediation options GRO ;

    Sammanfattning : Well-functioning, healthy soils are increasingly recognized as vital to human well-being, but soil contamination impairs the capacity of soils to perform their essential functions and provide humans with ecosystem services (ES). Contaminated land poses risks to human health and the environment, which must be managed, but also constitute an important and underutilized land and soil resource for providing ES in urban areas through phytomanagement with gentle remediation options (GRO) – nature-based solutions using plants, fungi, bacteria, and soil amendments to manage risks at contaminated sites while also improving soil functionality. 3. 3. Gentle Remediation Options (GRO) for Managing Risks and Providing Ecosystem Services at Contaminated Sites

    Författare :Paul David Drenning; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Risk-Based Land Management RBLM ; Brownfields; Sustainable Remediation; Gentle Remediation Options GRO ; Ecosystem Services; Phytomanagement;

    Sammanfattning : Soils are a non-renewable resource and comprise a key component of the world's stock of natural capital. Due to industrialisation, urbanisation and other patterns of unsustainable development, widespread land degradation in the form of contamination, soil sealing, compaction, etc. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Liquid metal microscale deposition for soft and stretchable skin-like electronics : Providing a soft and gentle contact to living beings

    Författare :Bei Wang; Klas Hjort; Zhigang Wu; Magnus Berggren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; laser patterning; sacrificial mask; liquid metal; strain sensor; skin movement; masking; shrink film; 3D conformal masking; liquid metal particles; soft electronics; stretchable electronics; compliant electronics; skin-like electronics; epidermal electronics; micro-heater; particle sintering; enteroendocrine cells; localized ectopic expression; wettability; flexography printing; conformal transfer printing; hydro printing; plant physiology; drosophila;

    Sammanfattning : Skin-like electronics could provide a soft and gentle contact with living beings for perceiving and delivering the information of pressure, strain, temperature with higher spatial resolution and sensitivity than our skin, without disturbing the user. Gallium-based liquid metal (LM) is an excellent material for soft and stretchable skin-like devices, since it has high electrical and thermal conductivity, flowability, and self-healable capability. 5. 5. Hedonic, neural, and autonomic responses to prolonged gentle touch

    Författare :Chantal Triscoli; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; long-lasting touch; CT afferents; pleasantness; liking; wanting; satiety; orbitofrontal cortex; reward; heart rate variability;

    Sammanfattning : Physical contact among individuals, such as caressing and cuddling, is connoted by a strong emotional value, and is usually perceived as a pleasant and rewarding experience. C tactile (CT) afferents are a class of fibres that are specific channels for detecting touch at a caress-like veloc-ity (between 1 and 10 cm/s). LÄS MER
