  1. 1. Methods for Analyzing Genomes

    Författare :Patrik L. Ståhl; Joakim Lundeberg; Ivo Gut; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; array; sequence capture; genotyping; trinucleotide threading; sequencing; massively parallel sequencing; single molecule sequencing; Visual DNA; p53; single nucleotide polymorphism; biomarker; Genetics; Genetik;

    Sammanfattning : The human genome reference sequence has given us a two‐dimensional blueprint of our inherited code of life, but we need to employ modern‐day technology to expand our knowledge into a third dimension. Inter‐individual and intra‐individual variation has been shown to be larger than anticipated, and the mode of genetic regulation more complex. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Multiplex HLA-DR-DQ genotyping : for genetic epidemiology and clinical risk assessment

    Författare :Ewa Lavant; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :HLA-DRB1; HLA-DQB1; HLA-DQA1; PCR-SSP; type 1 diabetes; celiac disease; autoimmune disease; capillary gel electrophoresis; genotyping;

    Sammanfattning : The human leukocyte antigens (HLA) are highly polymorphic cell surface proteins encoded in the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) region on chromosome 6. The HLA system has been well known as transplantation antigens but the primary biological role of the HLA molecules is regulation of immune response by presenting peptide fragments to T-lymphocytes. 3. 3. Chlamydia trachomatis: Development of molecular typing methods and applications in epidemiology

    Författare :Markus Klint; Björn Herrmann; Jonas Blomberg; Michael Ward; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chlamydia trachomatis; Lymphogranuloma venereum; Genotyping; MLST; nvCT; hctB; Hc2; Clinical bacteriology; Klinisk bakteriologi; Klinisk bakteriologi; Clinical Bacteriology;

    Sammanfattning : A general aim was to combine molecular typing methods with clinical background information to increase epidemiological knowledge about Chlamydia trachomatis infections.An outbreak of Lymfogranuloma venereum (LGV), caused by a more invasive variant of C. trachomatis, was reported from the Netherlands in 2003 among men who have sex with men (MSM). 4. 4. Detection of Chlamydia trachomatis and Mycoplasma genitalium by genetic and serological methods

    Författare :Margaretha Jurstrand; Hans Fredlund; Erik Kihlström; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Chlamydia trachomatis; genotyping; contact tracing; sexually transmitted diseases; Mycoplasma genitalium; PCR; serology; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Chlamydia trachomatis infections are associated with a spectrum of clinical diseases including urethritis, prostatitis and epididymitis among men and cervicitis and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), with an increased risk of infertility and ectopic pregnancy (EP), among women. In the search for other pathogens causing urethritis, Mycoplasma genitalium was isolated from urethral specimens from two men with acute urethritis (1980). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Detection and Characterisation of Salmonella in Animal Feed Samples by PCR-Based Methods

    Författare :Charlotta Löfström; Teknisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik; Biotechnology; Bioteknik; Biokemisk teknik; Biochemical technology; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; mykologi; virologi; bakteriologi; Mikrobiologi; validation; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Salmonella; ribotyping; detection; animal feed; randomly amplified polymorphic DNA; pulsed-field gel electrophorsis; pre-PCR processing; PCR; polymerase chain reaction; genotyping;

    Sammanfattning : Animal feed is a recognised source of Salmonella enterica for farm livestock and may also indirectly cause infection in people consuming foods of animal origin. It is therefore important to have rapid, reproducible and specific methods for the detection of Salmonella in feed, and for the characterisation of strains for further epidemiological investigations or to trace the source of contamination in a production facility.
