  1. 16. Structural variants in the great tit genome and their effect on seasonal timing

    Författare :Vinicius Henrique da Silva; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The biodiversity of our planet has been increasingly endangered by human actions. This nature biodiversity is strictly correlated with genomic diversity of all the species in the ecosystem. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Genome Evolution and Host Adaptation in Bartonella

    Författare :Eva Caroline Berglund; Siv GE Andersson; Brendan Wren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bartonella; genome evolution; genome diversity; phage; gene transfer agent; secretion system; microarray; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik; Evolutionary Genetics; evolutionär genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Bacteria of the genus Bartonella infect the red blood cells of a wide range of wild and domestic mammals and are transmitted between hosts by blood-sucking insects. Although most Bartonella infections are asymptomatic, the genus contains several human pathogens. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Exploring the multiscale 3D architecture of human chromosome contact networks

    Författare :Dolores Bernenko; Ludvig Lizana; Martin Rosvall; Petter Holme; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; community detection; DNA 3D organization; Hi-C; network science; DNA-DNA contact data;

    Sammanfattning : Cells regulate genes to coordinate essential functions allowing cells to grow, divide, specialize, and respond to stresses. While regulatory proteins are the most common way to control these genes, the DNA’s 3D structure also plays a critical role as it affects how proteins access genes and how regulatory DNA elements interact over large genomic distances. 4. 19. Studies of immunoglobulin light chains in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss): new insight into the evolution of immunoglobulin genes

    Författare :Sirje Timmusk; Greg Warr; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Immunoglobulin genes; gene organization; evolution; comparative immunology; promoter; rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss ; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; molekylär immunologi; Molecular Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the structure and the expression of immunoglobulin (Ig) light chain genes were studied in rainbow trout and including an evolutionary perspective. A novel Ig light chain locus (IgL2) was identified and characterized. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Opportunities in small population breeding in black cottonwood : or The little population that could

    Författare :Rami-Petteri Apuli; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Small and structured populations are problematic for breeding due to low levels of genetic variability and increased levels of linkage disequilibrium (LD). The increased LD causes problems with utilization of common genomic tools and may lead into increased accruement of deleterious alleles through the intense selection and bottlenecks characteristic of breeding.
