  1. 1. Reverse genetic studies of Enterovirus replication

    Författare :Anna Sävneby; A. Michael Lindberg; Björn Andersson; Peter Gierow; Jonas Waldenström; Martin Ryan; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Enterovirus; picornavirus; coxsackievirus; echovirus; rhinovirus; reverse genetics; replication; translation; transfection; cassette vector.; Virology; Virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Enteroviruses belong to the Picornaviridae family and are small icosahedral viruses with RNA genomes of positive polarity, containing a single open reading frame. They mostly cause mild or asymptomatic infections, but also a wide array of diseases including: poliomyelitis, encephalitis, gastroenteritis, aseptic meningitis, myocarditis, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, hepatitis and respiratory diseases, ranging from severe infections to the common cold. 2. 2. Hepatitis B virus replication and integration

    Författare :Simon B. Larsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hepatitis B virus; replication; integration; HBV DNA; HBsAg;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV) affects 240 million people worldwide and may cause liver disease including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Initially patients have high levels of HBV DNA in their blood, no liver disease and express the e antigen (HBeAg). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Guardians of the genome : Connecting chromatin structure and genome integrity in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Författare :Stefanie Lena Bauer; Stefan U. Åström; Brian Luke; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Branched DNA structures arise during recombination and during other DNA repair processes such as repair of stalled replication forks. One branched structure, the Holliday Junction (HJ), is a four-way junction that can connect sister chromatids or homologous chromosomes. We show a physical interaction between the HJ-cleaving enzyme Yen1 and Uls1. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies of Genome Diversity in Bartonella Populations : A journey through cats, mice, men and lice

    Författare :Hillevi Lina Lindroos; Siv G. E. Andersson; Richard Birtles; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biology; Bartonella; genome content; genome rearrangement; gene expression; phage; microarray; PFGE; MLST; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Bacteria of the genus Bartonella inhabit the red blood cells of many mammals, including humans, and are transmitted by blood-sucking arthropod vectors. Different species of Bartonella are associated with different mammalian host species, to which they have adapted and normally do not cause any symptoms. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Genome Evolution and Host Adaptation in Bartonella

    Författare :Eva Caroline Berglund; Siv GE Andersson; Brendan Wren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bartonella; genome evolution; genome diversity; phage; gene transfer agent; secretion system; microarray; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik; Evolutionary Genetics; evolutionär genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Bacteria of the genus Bartonella infect the red blood cells of a wide range of wild and domestic mammals and are transmitted between hosts by blood-sucking insects. Although most Bartonella infections are asymptomatic, the genus contains several human pathogens. LÄS MER
