  1. 16. Stiffness modification of tensegrity structures

    Författare :Seif Dalilsafaei; Anders Eriksson; Karl-Gunnar Olsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :tensegrity; boom; finite element analysis; genetic algorithm; flexibility analysis; active structure; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Although the concept of tensegrity structures was invented in the beginning of the twentieth century, the applications of these structures are limited, partially due to their low stiffness. The stiffness of tensegrities comes from topology, configuration, pre-stress and initial axial element stiffnesses. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Mitotic recombination in mammalian cells

    Författare :Catherine Arnaudeau; Harry Vrieling; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; toxikologisk genetik; Genetic Toxicology;

    Sammanfattning : Recombination is usually defined as the exchange of genetic material between two strands or regions of nucleic acids. This process occurs in all known organisms and is highly conserved, especially among higher eukaryotes. Various types of recombination, involving homologous or non-homologous nucleic acid sequences, are known to exist. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Molecular and Biological Characteristics of Stroma and Tumor Cells in Colorectal Cancer

    Författare :Jingfang Gao; Xiao-Feng Sun; Richard Palmqvist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Carcinogenesis; genetic alterations; colorectal cancer CRC ; cysteine-histidine rich protein PINCH ; Inflammatory infiltration; Angiogenesis; lymphangiogenesis; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Carcinogenesis is a progressive process involving multiple genetic alterations in tumor cells and complex interactions in the tumor-host microenvironment. To better understand the contribution of molecular alterations in tumor cells and stromal variables to the development of colorectal cancer (CRC) and identify prognostic factors, in this study we examined the clinicopathological and biological significance of stromal variables, including particularly interesting new cysteine-histidine rich protein (PINCH), inflammatory infiltration, angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis, as well as hRAD50/hMRE11/hNBS1 proteins and hRAD50 mutation in tumor cell in CRC. 4. 19. Identification of protein signatures of genomic stability/instability in epithelial cancers

    Författare :Timo Gemoll; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Aneuploidy is a consistent genetic alteration of the cancer genome. At early steps in the sequence of malignant transformation during human tumorigenesis, chromosomal aneuploidies can be the first detectable genetic aberrations found. LÄS MER

  5. 20. On the clinical value of genetic analysis in colorectal cancer patients

    Författare :Ulrik Lindforss; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In Sweden, the incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC) is about 5000 new cases every year and this number has not changed markedly during the past twenty years. 90-95% of all CRC appear spontaneously, but there are also inherited forms of CRC (5-10%) of which the two most common are familiar adenomatous polyposis (FAP) and hereditary non-polyposis colorectal carcinoma (HNPCC).
