  2. 7. Treatment of Skin Wounds with Cell Transplantation and Gene Transfer

    Författare :Tor Svensjö; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pigs; gene regulation; cell culture; fibroblasts; keratinocytes; wound healing; skin; gene transfer; Transplantation; gene therapy; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: A large number of different wound coverings have been used in order to improve the wound microenvironment, and thus accelerate repair. Since almost two centuries, clinicians and researchers have developed techniques for skin transplantation. LÄS MER

  3. 8. The structure of epsilon-strongly group graded rings

    Författare :Daniel Lännström; Johan Öinert; Stefan Wagner; Patrik Lundström; Gene Abrams; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; group graded ring; Leavitt path algebra; partial crossedproduct; Cuntz-Pimsner ring; von Neumann regular ring; non-unital ring; Mathematics and applications; Matematik med tillämpningar;

    Sammanfattning : The development of a general theory of strongly group graded rings was initiated by Dade, Năstăsescu and Van Oystaeyen in the 1980s, and since then numerous structural results have been established.  In this thesis we develop a general theory of so-called (nearly) epsilon-strongly group graded rings which were recently introduced by Nystedt, Öinert and Pinedo and which generalize strongly group graded rings. 4. 9. Functional association networks for disease gene prediction

    Författare :Dimitri Guala; Erik L L Sonnhammer; Hjalmar Brismar; Yves Moreau; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; network biology; biological networks; network prediction; functional association; functional coupling; network integration; functional association networks; genome-wide association networks; gene networks; protein networks; fret; functional enrichment analysis; network cross-talk; pathway annotation; gene prioritisation; network-based gene prioritization; benchmarking; Biochemistry towards Bioinformatics; biokemi med inriktning mot bioinformatik;

    Sammanfattning : Mapping of the human genome has been instrumental in understanding diseasescaused by changes in single genes. However, disease mechanisms involvingmultiple genes have proven to be much more elusive. Their complexityemerges from interactions of intracellular molecules and makes them immuneto the traditional reductionist approach. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Statistical analysis of gene expression data

    Författare :Erik Kristiansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gene expression; DNA microarrays; linear models; empirical Bayes; quality control; gene regulation; categorical data analysis; logistic regression; heavy metal stress; ecotoxicology; gene expression;

    Sammanfattning : Microarray technology has become one of the most important tools for genome-wide mRNA measurements. The technique has been successfully applied to many areas in modern biology including cancer research, identification of drug targets, and categorization of genes involved in the cell cycle. LÄS MER
