  1. 6. Immunogene Therapy of Bladder Carcinoma : A Preclinical Study

    Författare :Angelica Loskog; Rolf Kiessling; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Immunotherapy; Gene therapy; Immunogene therapy; CD40L; Bladder carcinoma; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Klinisk immunologi; Clinical Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis comprises studies on murine and human models of bladder carcinoma with the aim to develop novel immunogene therapies. On the basis of the results presented in this thesis, a clinical trial is underway. The potential of activating the immune system to combat cancer has long intrigued immunologists. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Treatment of Skin Wounds with Cell Transplantation and Gene Transfer

    Författare :Tor Svensjö; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pigs; gene regulation; cell culture; fibroblasts; keratinocytes; wound healing; skin; gene transfer; Transplantation; gene therapy; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: A large number of different wound coverings have been used in order to improve the wound microenvironment, and thus accelerate repair. Since almost two centuries, clinicians and researchers have developed techniques for skin transplantation. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Adenovirus-mediated Gene Therapy of Prostate Cancer

    Författare :Angelika Danielsson; Mangus Essand; Thomas H. Tötterman; Gunnel Hallden; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :adenovirus; adenoviral vector; oncolytic virus; gene therapy; prostate cancer; PEGylation; HDAC inhibitor; whole blood model; whole blood neutralization assay; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Klinisk immunologi; Clinical Immunology; Molekylär genetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Adenovirus-mediated gene therapy is a potential complement to standard cancer treatments. Advantages are that vectors can be used to target tumors and that replicating viruses lead to increased therapeutic dosage. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Development of Gene Therapy for Hematopoietic Stem Cells using Lentiviral Vectors

    Författare :Niels-Bjarne Woods; Andreas Ooka; Stefan Karlsson; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; embryonic stem cell; Hematopoietic stem cell; lentiviral vector; transduction efficiency; transgene expression; multiple vector copy integration; insertional mutagenesis; NOD SCID mouse; cytogenetics; Genetics; extracellulära vätskor; extracellular fluids; cytogenetik; Genetik; Haematology; Hematologi; Lentivirus : genetics; Human; Genetic Vectors; Hematopoietic Stem Cells : metabolism; Animal; Gene Therapy; Leukemia : therapy; Leukemia : metabolism;

    Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells are an ideal target for genetic manipulation for the purpose of curing hematological disorders as they have the ability to develop into all blood lineages and to self-renew. In this study we demonstrate that lentiviral vectors, based on HIV-1, can efficiently transfer genes into human hematopoietic progenitor and stem cells as assessed following stem cell transplantation in immune compromised mice. 5. 10. Gene therapy in epilepsy: neuropeptides and neurotrophic factors

    Författare :Irene Kanter Schlifke; Lund Wallenberg Neurocentrum; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurologi; neurophysiology; neuropsychology; Neurology; piriform cortex; hippocampus; neuropsykologi; encapsulated cells; viral vectors; GDNF; galanin; epilepsy; gene therapy; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is the most common form of epilepsy among adult patients, and the most problematic one as seizures cannot be controlled by currently available drugs in 30 % of patients. Gene therapy based on overexpression of endogenous anti-epileptic agents such as the neuropeptide galanin and the glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) represents a promising new approach for treatment of TLE.
