6. The structure of epsilon-strongly group graded rings
Sammanfattning : The development of a general theory of strongly group graded rings was initiated by Dade, Năstăsescu and Van Oystaeyen in the 1980s, and since then numerous structural results have been established. In this thesis we develop a general theory of so-called (nearly) epsilon-strongly group graded rings which were recently introduced by Nystedt, Öinert and Pinedo and which generalize strongly group graded rings. 7. On bacterial formats in protein library technology
Sammanfattning : Millions of years of evolution have resulted in an immense number of different proteins, which participate in virtually every process within cells and thus are of utmost importance for allknown forms of life. In addition, there are several examples of natural proteins which have found use in applications outside their natural environment, such as the use of enzymes infood industry and washing powders or the use of antibodies in diagnostic, bioseparation or therapeutic applications. 9. Superantigens in group A streptococcus : gene diversity and humoral immune response
Sammanfattning : Group A streptococcus (GAS) is a strictly human pathogen that causes infections ranging from asymptomatic carriage to the highly lethal streptococcal toxic shock syndrome (STSS). GAS are classified according to the sequence of the variable 5’ end of the emm-gene that encodes the surface associated M-protein. LÄS MER
10. Robust inference of gene regulatory networks : System properties, variable selection, subnetworks, and design of experiments
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, inference of biological networks from in vivo data generated by perturbation experiments is considered, i.e. deduction of causal interactions that exist among the observed variables. Knowledge of such regulatory influences is essential in biology. LÄS MER
