  1. 11. Aspects of Gene Expression Profiling in Disease and Health

    Författare :Julia Bergman; Fredrik Pontén; Lars Akslen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cancer; biomarkers; differential diagnostics; immunohistochemistry; transcriptomics; protein profiling; adrenal gland.; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to in various ways explore protein expression in human normal tissue and in cancer and to apply that knowledge in biomarker discovery.In Paper I the prognostic significance of RNA-binding motif protein 3 (RBM3) is explored in malignant melanoma. 2. 12. Gene expression profiling in animal models of alcoholism

    Författare :Christina Arlinde; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Alcoholism; gene expression; microarray; animal model; rat; brain;

    Sammanfattning : Genetic and environmental factors in alcoholism interact at the level of the transcriptome to encode the phenotypic traits of this complex clinical syndrome. Because of this, the prospect of simultaneous, genome wide, high-throughput analysis of gene expression in key brain areas potentially offers a novel strategy to identify new molecular treatment targets in this disease. 3. 13. Exploring Brain Gene Expression i Animal Models of Behaviour

    Författare :Julia Lindberg; Elena Jazin; Peter Saetre; Jonathan Flint; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biology; behavioural genetics; gene expression; brain; microarray analysis; domestication; animal model; haem; Canis familiaris; Vulpes vulpes; Mus musculus; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : The genetic basis for behavioural traits is largely unknown. The overall aim of this thesis was to find genes with importance for behavioural traits related to fear and anxiety. Microarray analysis was used to screen expression profiles of brain regions important for emotional behaviour in dogs, wolves, foxes and mice. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Genomic profiling of breast cancer by microarray-based technology and bioinformatics

    Författare :Johan Staaf; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Survival; Prognostic predictor; Gene Expression; ERBB2; HER2; Microarray; Copy Number Analysis; CGH; aCGH; Amplification; Gene expression analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer is a genetic disease that arises when a cell acquires unlimited growth potential through a series of mutational events, which target genes essential for normal cell control and maintenance. Breast cancer is one of the most frequent malignancies in women worldwide, and it is characterized by heterogeneous tumor biology, histological subtypes, variable prognosis and variable responsiveness to treatment. 5. 15. MOLECULAR PROFILING OF UROTHELIAL CARCINOMA

    Författare :David Lindgren; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cytogenetik; Urology; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; cytogenetics; Genetics; cancer; onkologi; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; TP53; FGFR3; gene expression profiling; microarray; bladder cancer; urothelial carcinoma; Genetik;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis was to molecularly characterize urothelial carcinoma (UC) at the transcriptional level using gene expression microarrays to improve the classification and pathogenetic understanding of this disease. In the first two studies (Articles I and II), gene expression profiling was used to study dysregulated transcriptional networks in a large cohort of UCs. LÄS MER
