1. Gene Expression Studies of Hematologic Malignacies
Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis was to characterize hematologic malignancies using gene expression profiling in order to obtain an improved classification and to study deregulated transcriptional networks in leukemia. In the first study (Article I), the gene expression profiles of hematologic cell lines were analyzed to investigate whether such cell lines maintain expression profiles that are characteristic of their primary genetic changes. 2. Gene expression profiling with real-time PCR
Sammanfattning : The sequence of the entire human genome is available today, and this information can be used to understand, characterize, and treat complex diseases such as cancer. Many cellular functions related to survival, growth and differentiation are reflected in the gene expression pattern, and the ability to quantify transcription levels of specific genes is, and always has been, central to research on gene function. 4. Gene expression profiling in periodontitis
Sammanfattning : The chronic inflammatory disease periodontitis is characterized by destruction of periodontal tissue, i.e. the tissues that surround and support the teeth. LÄS MER
5. Expression profiling using manifold supports
Sammanfattning : Analyses of mRNA provides a condensed view of gene structure and quantitative analysis can reveal the induction of physiological or pathological gene expression programs. This thesis describes a new method for mRNA isolation, followed by sensitive real time detection via polymerase chain reaction (PCR), in order to quantitate transcripts of interest. LÄS MER
