1. The fate of primary aneuploid cells in early embryonic development and stem cells
Sammanfattning : Chromosomal aberrations occurring during gametogenesis and early embryonic development play a significant role in infertility and fetal loss in humans. Germ cells that have an abnormal number of chromosomes (aneuploidy) are generated mainly due to errors during female gamete formation, a phenomenon increasing in occurrence with age. LÄS MER
2. Mitochondrial differentiation during the early development of the amphibian embryo
Sammanfattning : Mitochondria from Xenopus laevis and Ambystoma mexica- num embryos between fertilization and the beginning of feeding were studied: the former with respect to metabolic behaviour, enzyme pattern and carrier activity, and the latter with respect to morphological parameters. The metabolic behaviour of mitochondria was studied by assessing the rates of oxygen uptake in presence of various substrates. 3. Pharmacological control of ciliary activity in the young sea urchin larva : cholinergic and monoaminergic effects and the role of calcium and cyclic nucleotides
Sammanfattning : The ciliary activity of the young (prenervous) sea urchin larva, reflected by its swimming intensity, is measured according to a simple method. The changes in ciliary activity from hatching throughout gastrulation commonly show two main peaks coinciding with the two main phases of gastrulation. LÄS MER
4. Genetic analysis of ligand-receptor interactions in the TGF-beta superfamily during early embryonic development
Sammanfattning : During early development, cells differentiate and acquire specific fates according to their position in concentration gradients of morphogens. These substances often spread from a local region, termed an organizer, and exert different effects at distinct thresholds. LÄS MER
5. Cytoskeletal Regulation During Embryonic Development in Drosophila melanogaster
Sammanfattning : The development of multicellular organisms is associated with extensive rearrangements of cells and tissues. The driving force for these rearrangements is generated by the cell's actin cytoskeleton. During many morphogenetic processes dynamic rearrangement of the actin cytoskeleton is regulated by small GTPases of the Rho-family. LÄS MER
