  1. 1. The influence of opioids on gastric function : experimental and clinical studies

    Författare :Jakob Walldén; Magnus Wattwil; Sven-Egron Thörn; Eldar Søreide; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gastrointestinal motility; gastric emptying; gastric tone; electrogastrography; analgesics; opioids; µ-opioid receptor; polymorphism; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Efter operation och anestesi får patienter ofta en negativ påverkan på magsäck och tarmar. Illamående och kräkningar är ett stort problem och många har svårt att komma igång med intag av föda och normal tarmfunktion då magsäcken och tarmarna ”står stilla”. Flera faktorer bidrar- bl.a. 2. 2. Experimental and clinical studies on the antiemetic effects of propofol

    Författare :Bengt Hammas; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; gastric emptying; gastric tone; orocecal transit time; propofol; dopamine; serotonin; morphine; postoperative nausea and vomiting; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is still a clinical problem and its incidence is unacceptably high. After the introduction of propofol as an agent for induction and maintenance of anesthesia, it was reported that the incidence of PONV was lower. It was also proposed that propofol possesses antiemetic effects. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Gastric Bypass in Morbid Obesity : Postoperative Changes in Metabolic, Inflammatory and Gut Regulatory Peptides

    Författare :Camilla Holdstock; Britt Edén Engström; Anders Karlsson; Per Hellström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; gastric bypass; morbid obesity; ghrelin; C-reactive protein; pancreatic polypeptide; peptide YY; glucagon-like peptide-1; Medicine; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the effect of surgical weight loss on gut and adipose tissue peptides involved in appetite regulation and energy homeostasis in morbidly obese humans. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGBP) is the gold standard operation used for effective long-term weight loss and improved health. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Aspects on the functional characteristics of the Roux-limb after Gastric Bypass surgery

    Författare :Per Björklund; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; obesity; bariatric surgery; meal size; morphology; intestinal motility; high resolution manometry; abdominal pain; opioid analgesics;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Bariatric surgery, and particularly the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RYGBP) procedure, has highlighted the central role of the gastrointestinal tract in the regulation of body weight and metabolism. The Roux-limb is the part of the small intestine that has become the food recipient after RYGBP and has generally been very little studied. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Cardiorespiratory function of euryhaline teleosts - Regulatory mechanisms, effects of warming and costs of osmoregulation

    Författare :Daniel Morgenroth; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; salinity; temperature; cardiac; vascular; gastrointestinal; acclimation; growth;

    Sammanfattning : Teleost fishes have colonized almost every aquatic habitat on earth and exhibit adaptations that allow them to thrive in environments with very diverse physico-chemical properties. One fundamental environmental variable in aquatic ecosystems is salinity, as most fish species are only able to tolerate a narrow range of salinities. LÄS MER
