1. Investigation of Emission Characteristics for Diluted Flames and Renewable Fuels in Gas Turbine Combustors
Sammanfattning : Gas turbines have served as economically profitable and reliable generators of power for the past few decades, and have mainly been used in simple and combined cycles. The increased restrictions on hazardous emissions and the increased demand for profitability have created new prospects for innovative power cycles. LÄS MER
2. On direct hydrogen fuel cell vehicles : modelling and demonstration
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, direct hydrogen Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell systems in vehicles are investigated through modelling, field tests and public acceptance surveys. A computer model of a 50 kW PEM fuel cell system was developed. The fuel cell system efficiency is approximately 50% between 10 and 45% of the rated power. LÄS MER
3. Combustion and Nitrogen Chemistry in Oxy-Fuel Flames
Sammanfattning : Oxy-fuel combustion is a Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology that recently has shown afast progress towards the industrial scale application. In oxy-fuel combustion, oxygen instead of air isused as oxidizer to burn the fuel. The oxygen is mixed with recycled flue-gas in order to control theoverall combustion and heat transfer conditions. 4. Functional nanocomposites for advanced fuel cell technology and polygeneration
Sammanfattning : In recent decades, the use of fossil fuels has increased exponentially with a corresponding sharp increase in the pollution of the environment. The need for clean and sustainable technologies for the generation of power with reduced or zero environment impact has become critical. LÄS MER
5. Particulate and gaseous emissions from residential biomass combustion
Sammanfattning : Biomass is considered to be a sustainable energy source with significant potentials for replacing electricity and fossil fuels, not at least in the residential sector. However, present wood combustion is a major source of ambient concentrations of hydrocarbons (e.g. LÄS MER
