11. Heat and Mass Transfer Effects in a U-Bend in Pneumatic Drying
Sammanfattning : Pneumatic conveying drying is a widely used process in many engineering applications. Due to the high velocity of the drying medium and the limited conveying distance, the drying times of theses dryers are typically short, in the order of seconds. LÄS MER
12. The environment of high-redshift AGN
Sammanfattning : In order to understand the formation and evolution of local massive galaxies and to reveal the processes that engineered the tight correlations found between their supermassive black hole (SMBH) mass and bulge mass or velocity dispersion, the study of powerful, high-redshift active galactic nuclei (AGN) and their environment is crucial. Observations of high-z quasars and radio galaxies suggest that these AGN live in overdense environment surrounding by star-forming Ly&alpha-emitters and submillimeter galaxies. LÄS MER
13. Particle Coating in a Wurster Type Bed
Sammanfattning : The Wurster bed process is frequently used for film coating. In the Wurster bed, particles circulate in the equipment and are sprayed with a liquid which forms a coating when dry. The procedure is repeated until the desired characteristics of the coating layer are obtained. LÄS MER
14. Numerical methods for wave propagation in solids containing faults and fluid-filled fractures
Sammanfattning : This thesis develops numerical methods for the simulation of wave propagation in solids containing faults and fluid-filled fractures. These techniques have applications in earthquake hazard analysis, seismic imaging of reservoirs, and volcano seismology. A central component of this work is the coupling of mechanical systems. 15. Simulations of Simple Fluids and Surface Forces
Sammanfattning : A considerable part of all chemistry in nature and in industry occurs in solvents. Sol- vents affect both the interactions and the reactions of the particles immersed in them. The work in this thesis concerns the properties of ionic and polar solvents, as well as the interactions between solutes and/or dispersed particles. LÄS MER
