16. Effects of landscape context on populations of bumblebees
Sammanfattning : To investigate recent declines in bumblebee populations, I carried out landscape analyses, made field studies of bumblebees, flowering plants and pollination in an agricultural region in southernmost Sweden. Studies were carried out in landscapes of contrasting agricultural intensity and land-cover configuration; "simple" landscapes highly dominated by large crop fields, and "complex" with mixed farming, grasslands and smaller fields. 17. Thriving in extremes : Local adaptation of grasses (Poaceae) to geothermally heated soils on a subarctic island
Sammanfattning : Temperature is one of the most decisive parameters when it comes to determining characteristics and distributions of life worldwide. For plants, as sessile organisms, it is particularly important to be able to deal with the temperatures they are exposed to at a given location. LÄS MER
18. Local adaptation in life history traits and population size estimation of aquatic organisms
Sammanfattning : Human society is dependent on healthy aquatic ecosystems for our basic needs and well-being. Therefore, knowledge about how organisms respond and interact with their environments is pivotal. LÄS MER
19. Behavioural, physiological and morphological correlates of life-history in killifishes − a macroevolutionary approach
Sammanfattning : Life-histories commonly evolve along a continuum from short-lived and fecund, to long-lived and less fecund. Because life-history traits are mostly components of reproduction and survival, understanding the causes and consequences of life-history variation is at the core of evolutionary biology. LÄS MER
20. Materialising Modern Cemeteries : Archaeological narratives of Assistens cemetery, Copenhagen
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis examines the encounter between the dead and the living within 19th and 20th century landscape cemeteries. It shows how the relationship unfolds through the materiality and practices occurring within them. LÄS MER
