16. Studies on cholesterol and bile acid metabolism in Chinese cholesterol gallstone patients
Sammanfattning : Liver and intestine are important organs for the metabolism of cholesterol and bile acids in the body. Dysfunction in cholesterol and bile acid metabolism may lead to diseases such as cholesterol gallstone (GS) disease and atherosclerosis. LÄS MER
17. Modulation of bile acid and cholesterol metabolism in health and disease
Sammanfattning : An increased level of plasma cholesterol is associated with premature development of atherosclerosis. It is therefore important to understand the regulation of plasma cholesterol. Stimulation of hepatic bile acid synthesis is a strategy to reduce plasma cholesterol. This partly occurs due to an induction of hepatic LDL receptors. LÄS MER
18. On the regulation of hepatic cholesterol and bile acid metabolism in gallstone patients
Sammanfattning : The liver plays an important role in the regulation of cholesterol homeostasis, therefore also in the pathogenesis of arteriosclerosis and gallstone disease. The quantitatively most important way by which cholesterol is removed from the human body is via the bile, either as free cholesterol or after transformation to bile acids. LÄS MER
19. Understanding the molecular mechanisms of bile acid receptor activation for the treatment of human liver disease
Sammanfattning : Farnesoid X receptor (FXR) is a nuclear transcription factor that is activated by bile acids and regulates bile acid homeostasis, glucose and lipid metabolism. FXR activation by a ligand has been identified as a therapeutic modality for a range of liver and metabolic diseases. LÄS MER
20. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy : patients experiences of self-reported symptoms, perception of health and sense of coherence in a short and long term perspective
Sammanfattning : The aim of Study I was to explore patients' experiences related to gallstone disease and to their experiences of postoperative symptoms during the first week following outpatient laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). Twelve patients treated in day surgery were interviewed one week after surgery and a qualitative analysis was performed. LÄS MER
