  1. 1. The effect of galanin message-associated peptide in spinal sensory processing

    Författare :Siv Andell-Jonsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :galanin; galanin message-associated peptide; spinal cord; flexor reflex; nociception;

    Sammanfattning : Galanin message associated peptide (GMAP), the C-terminal flanking peptide in the precursor protein of galanin, has been studied to established whether this peptide has its own biological action. With some exceptions, GMAP is generally co-localized with galanin in the central nervous system as well as the peripheral nervous system. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The role of neuropeptides in spinal nociceptive mechanisms with special emphasis on galanin, neuropeptide Y and orphanin FQ/nociceptin

    Författare :Isabella Shi Xu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :analgesia; antinociception; flexor reflex; galanin; galanin message-associated peptide GMAP ; neuropeptide Y NPY ; nociceptin; nociception; nocistatin; orphanin FQ; pain;

    Sammanfattning : Several peptides present in sensory neurons and in the spinal cord have been recognized to have inhibitory action in nociception. In this thesis, we have used the flexor reflex preparation in rats to study the role of several proposed inhibitory neuropeptides, galanin, galanin message-associated peptide (GMAP), neuropeptide Y (NPY), orphanin FQ and nocistatin in spinal nociceptive processing under normal conditions, after inflammation or peripheral nerve injury. 3. 3. Regulation of CGRP expression in rat spinal motoneurons

    Författare :Fredrik Piehl; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :immunohistochemistry; in situ hybridization; motoneuron; axotomy; peptides; CGRP; trophic factor; FGF; IGF; BDNF; CNTF; GAP-43; cell culture; plasticity; mRNAregulation; regeneration;

    Sammanfattning : The normal distribution and lesion-induced changes in the expression of neuropeptides and growth-related proteins, with special reference to calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP),were studied in the motor system of the rat. In addition, factors that influence the expression of CGRP in motoneurons were identified. LÄS MER
