  1. 21. Functional aspects on the Epstein-Barr virus nuclear antigen 5

    Författare :Martin Dufva; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Epstein-Barr Virus; EBV; B-cell; transformation; cDNA array; polyadenylation; transcription; cell cycle; apoptosis; two-hybrid system.;

    Sammanfattning : The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infects resting B-cells. This leads to an EBV driven transformation of the resting B-cell into a cell with an activated B-cell phenotype that proliferates indefinitely in vitro. Epstein-Barr Nuclear antigen 5 (EBNA5) is one out of six EBV encoded protein involved in transformation of resting B-cell. LÄS MER

  2. 22. A screen for mutations affecting PNS development in Drosophila identifies the trim gene, dappled

    Författare :Fergal O'Farrell; Per Kylsten; Jan-Åke Gustafsson; Stefan Thor; Södertörns högskola; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The peripheral nervous system of Drosophila melanogaster contains a variety of sense organs, ranging from the relatively simple four celled bristle organ to the more complex compound eye. The development of each organ type is well described, providing a useful backdrop for functional studies of genes acting in one or more of the many processes involved in organogenesis. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Regulation of the Expression of Mouse Ribonucleotide Reductase Small Subunit at the Levels of Transcription and Protein Degradation

    Författare :Anna Lena Chabes; Lars Thelander; Ylva Engström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; ribonucleotide reductase; transcription; protein degradation; cell cycle; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Medical Cell Biology; medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) carries all the genetic information of a cell. Ribonucleotide reductase (RNR) provides balanced pools of all four dNTPs, the building blocks of DNA. These building blocks are needed during DNA synthesis and repair. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Cell cycle control in G1 : restriction points for growth factors and anchorage dependence

    Författare :Peter Zickert; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :cell cycle; cyclin E; growth control; growth factor; restriction point; ECM; anchorage;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The eukaryotic cell cycle consists of four well-defined phases. During the S phase DNA is replicated and during the M phase the chromosomes are segregated to daughter cells. The time gap between completion of M phase and entry into S phase is called G1. The time gap between S phase and mitosis is called G2. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Radiation response in human cells : DNA damage formation, repair and signaling

    Författare :Ann-Sofie Gustafsson; Bo Stenerlöw; Andrzej Wojcik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DNA damage; DNA repair; DSB; NHEJ; DNA-PK; ionizing radiation; heat-labile sites; Biomedical Radiation Science; Biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Ionizing radiation induces a range of different DNA lesions. In terms of mutation frequency and mammalian cell survival, the most critical of these lesions is the DNA double-strand break (DSB). DSB left unrepaired or mis-repaired may result in chromosomal aberrations that can lead to permanent genetic changes or cell death. LÄS MER
