  1. 21. X-Ray Diagnostics in Combustion - Study of Particle Formation in Flames Using Combined Small- and Wide-Angle X-Ray Scattering

    Författare :Linda Vallenhag; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nanoparticles; soot particles; WAXS; X-ray scattering; SAXS; combustion; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Vallenhag;

    Sammanfattning : In the thesis work, two X-ray scattering techniques, small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS and WAXS) were combined to study particle formation in-situ and non-intrusively in ethylene laboratory flames. Combining these two techniques enabled information concerning the size and concentration as well as the subnanometer structure of the nanoparticles within the 1–100 nm range there to be obtained. 2. 22. Low and High Energy Ion Beams in Nanotechnology

    Författare :Thomas Winzell; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ion implantation; magnetic materials; ERDA; nanometer structures; Nuclear physics; MeV Ions; lithography; Kärnfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2000:Winzell;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, two ways of fabrication of nanometer-sized semiconductor features are presented. Low Energy Ion Implantation (LEII) has been used to create shallow (sub-50 nm) and laterally small (5 m m – 200 nm) features by 10 keV As+ doping of B background doped Si. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Laser Diagnostic Techniques with Ultra-High Repetition Rate for Studies in Combustion Environments

    Författare :Jimmy Olofsson; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High-Speed; High Repetition Rate; LIF; PLIF; 3D Visualisation; Engine; Teknik; Technological sciences; Fysik; Physics; Combustion; Laserteknik; Laser technology; Laser-Induced Fluorescence; Laser Diagnostics;

    Sammanfattning : When conducting laser based diagnostics in combustion environments it is often desirable to obtain temporally resolved information. This can be due to several factors such as combustion taking place in a turbulent flow field, flame propagation from a spark plug in an initially quiescent combustible mixture, or rapid, multi-point fuel consumption in a homogeneous charge as a result of compression ignition in an engine cycle. 4. 24. Characterization of Surfaces Designed for Biomedical Applications

    Författare :Emma Kristensen; Hans Siegbahn; Rolf Larsson; Sven Oscarsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Physics; heparin; photoelectron spectroscopy; phosphorylcholine; biomaterial; quartz crystal dissipation; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : In order to develop blood biocompatible materials a heparin surface and a phosphorylcholine (PC) functionalized polymer surface were characterized using photoelectron spectroscopy (PES). The formation of the heparin surface was studied by quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring (QCM-D). LÄS MER

  5. 25. Phase Transitions and Phase Formation of Hydrogen in Quasi-2D Lattices

    Författare :Stefan Olsson; Björgvin Hjörvarsson; Yuh Fukai; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; hydrogen; finite-size effects; long-ranged interactions; superlattices; phase transitions; elastic interaction; Fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : The role of the dimensionality and strain state of metallic lattices on the phase behavior of dissolved hydrogen was explored. Metallic superlattices with well defined hydrogen absorption potential on the nm scale, were utilized as test systems. LÄS MER
