11. Physical Modeling of Brain and Head Kinematics
Sammanfattning : The development of head injury criteria and countermeasures for head protection requires understanding of how different factors affect brain and head kinematics. In this thesis, 2D physical models of the human head were developed and used to evaluate how various factors affect brain kinematics during angular head kinematics. LÄS MER
12. Offenders with mental disorder : psychosocial and neurobiological aspects
Sammanfattning : The main hypothesis of this thesis is that certain functions, or symptoms, in mentally disordered offenders are connected to biological correlates. There is no specific diagnosis that explains antisocial or violent behaviour. Among offenders some functions or symptoms are considered more common, such as impulsivity and reduced empathy. LÄS MER
13. Quantitative MRI Biomarkers of Neurodegeneration in Multiple Sclerosis
Sammanfattning : Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative disease that targets myelin in the brain and spinal cord. The corpus callosum connects the cerebral hemispheres and is composed of heavily myelinated axons. LÄS MER
14. Rolandic Epilepsy : A Neuroradiological, Neuropsychological and Oromotor Study
Sammanfattning : Rolandic epilepsy (RE) is the most common focal epilepsy syndrome in the pediatric age group with an onset between 3 and 13 years. The syndrome is defined by electro-clinically typical features and has been considered benign according to seizure remission before the age of 16 years. LÄS MER
15. Post Cardiac Arrest Care : Evaluation of prognostic tools, Patient outcomes and Relatives’ experiences at 6 months after the event
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the present thesis was to study post-resuscitation care of cardiac arrest (CA) patients treated with target temperature management 33°C with a focus on evaluation of two prognostic tools: variations in cerebral venous saturation and acute magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings on the brain post-CA. An additional aim was to investigate patients’ neurological outcome and relatives’ experiences 6 months after the event. LÄS MER
