  1. 6. Microengineered CVD Diamond Surfaces : Tribology and Applications

    Författare :Joakim Andersson; Staffan Jacobson; Arto Alahelisten; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Diamond; DLC; Tribology; Friction; Environment; Microengineering; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Recent developments in thin film synthesis of diamond have facilitated a host of new technical applications. These are motivated by the many attractive properties of diamond, for example high hardness, chemical inertness, transparency and heat conductivity. Unfortunately, these properties also make it difficult to fashion complex geometries. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Synthesis, Characterization, and Evaluation of Ag-based Electrical Contact Materials

    Författare :Fang Mao; Ulf Jansson; Mikael Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; electrical contact; bulk; coating; Ag-based alloys; Ag-based delafossite; AgI; graphene; graphene oxide; combinatorial material science; dc magnetron sputtering; friction; wear; hardness; contact resistance;

    Sammanfattning : Ag is a widely used electrical contact material due to its excellent electrical properties. The problems with Ag are that it is soft and has poor tribological properties (high friction and wear in Ag/Ag sliding contacts). LÄS MER

  3. 8. On the influence of surface roughness on rolling contact forces

    Författare :Oskar Lundberg; Ines Lopez Arteaga; Leif Kari; Matthias Kröger; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rolling contact; Surface roughness; Contact forces; Contact modelling; Friction; Road; Asphalt; Substrate; Test-rig; Sliding; Stick–slip; Tyre; Rubber; Tread-block; Wheel–rail interaction; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Road vehicle tyres, railway wheels and ball bearings all generate rolling contact forces which are transferred within a finite area of contact between the rolling element and the substrate. Either it is visible or not for the human eye, a certain degree of roughness is always present on the contacting surfaces and it influences the generation of both vertical and lateral contactforces. 4. 9. The early stage of galling

    Författare :Patrik Karlsson; Pavel Krakhmalev; Anders Gåård; Braham Prakash; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Galling; Stainless steel; Tool steel; Friction; Sliding wear; SOFS; Tribology; Wear; Materialteknik; Materials Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : In sheet metal forming (SMF) of materials such as stainless steels there is a major problem with transfer and accumulation of sheet material to the metal forming tool surface. The problem is known as galling; a kind of severe adhesive wear, which results in severe scratching of produced parts. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Lubrication mechanisms and properties of non-halogenated orthoborate ionic liquids

    Författare :Patrick Rohlmann; Sergei Glavatskih; Mark W. Rutland; Oleg N Antzutkin; Ali Erdemir; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ionic Liquids; Friction; Wear; Viscosity; Density; Additive; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Sammanfattning : One way to reduce energy consumption and waste - a necessity to achieve the UN-mandated limitation of average global temperature in-creases - is to select suitable lubricants so that energy-losses through friction and wear are minimised. In this context, non-halogenated ionicliquids (ILs) are promising candidates to achieve this aim due to their intrinsic ionic properties, low vapour pressure and high thermal stability. LÄS MER
