1. Critical degrees of saturation at freezing of porous and brittle materials
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on experimental work carried out during the period 1968-1972. The whole investigation is sponsored by the Swedish Council for Building Research and has been performed at the department of Building Materials at the Lund Institute of Technology. LÄS MER
2. Thaw Mechanism in Subgrades
Sammanfattning : Freezing-thawing, changes the properties of soil due to the phase change of the water in the soil body. Freezing-thawing cycles in the soil have been studied for several decades including extensive laboratory research. In this study, the main focus is thawing based on laboratory investigation. LÄS MER
3. Mechanisms of salt frost scaling on portland cement-bound materials: studies and hypothesis
Sammanfattning : A hypothesis regarding the mechanism causing salt frost scaling on Portland cement-bound materials is described. It is assumed that deterioration is due to osmotic micro ice body growth, as has been previously proposed for frost deterioration of moisture-isolated specimens of cement-bound materials. LÄS MER
4. Numerical models for degradation of concrete in hydraulic structures due to long-term contact with water
Sammanfattning : The durability of concrete is of major concern in all types of concrete structures where the combined effect of exposure conditions and the type and quality of the concrete material usually determines the rate of degradation. Furthermore, there are synergy effects between different deterioration mechanisms, which means that the combined rate of degradation is higher than the sum of the individual rates of each mechanism. 5. Water Condensation and Freezing in the Atmosphere: Exploring Deliquescence and Ice Nucleation
Sammanfattning : Atmospheric aerosols play key roles in numerous atmospheric processes. They affect human health, are substrates and components for atmospheric chemistry, and via their contribution to clouds affect the water cycle and the energy balance of the planet. LÄS MER
