16. Colloidal Synthesis and Characterisation of (a) Na0.5K0.5NbO3 Thin Films; and (b) Functionalised Gd2O3 Nanocrystals
Sammanfattning : (a) Thin films of the perovskite structured Na0.5K0.5NbO3 (NKN) have been synthesised with several different sol-gel methods. Only one method gave pure NKN phase while the other methods gave extra peaks in the x-ray diffraction patterns, indicating that other, unidentified, phases were present. LÄS MER
17. Metabolic engineering and random mutagenesis for improved xylose utilisation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Sammanfattning : In this thesis I have summarised my work on the analysis and improvement of xylose utilisation by recombinant S. cerevisiae. A metabolic flux model was developed and used to analyse the intracellular fluxes in the recombinant xylose utilising S. cerevisiae TMB 3001 cultivated in chemostat at various dilution rates and xylose/glucose concentrations. 18. Brand choice in goal-derived categories : what are the determinants?
Sammanfattning : The common view of brand choice in consumer marketing is that brands compete against each other within a specified product category. For example, different coffee brands are compared and evaluated by consumers and the most preferred brand is selected. LÄS MER
19. Myoelectric Control for Hand Prostheses
Sammanfattning : An investigation of improvements of myoelectric prostheses has been undertaken. The primary aims of this thesis were (1) to generate an accurate prediction of as many hand movement as possible, (2) to produce a training setup for subjects allowing intuitive and instant control over multiple movements, and (3) to reduce the training cycle for the control system to a maximum of a couple of minutes to enable optimizations, e. 20. Pressurized entrained flow gasification of pulverized biomass : Experimental characterization of process performance
Sammanfattning : The anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (e.g. CO2), mostly connected to the use of fossil fuels, to the atmosphere have increased during the last century and there is significant evidence that this is the main reason for the recent global temperature rise. LÄS MER
