  1. 11. Socioeconomic influences on late-life health and mortality : exploring genetic and environmental interplay

    Författare :Malin Ericsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis was to increase the understanding of socioeconomic differences in health and mortality in old age - in a genetically informative setting. Data from the Swedish Twin Registry (STR), different statistical methods, and family-based designs were applied to investigate socioeconomic circumstances over the life-course and how these affect cognitive function, frailty, and mortality in late life. 2. 12. Proactive Primary Care for Older Adults at High Risk of Hospital Admission

    Författare :Magnus Nord; Jan Marcusson; Carl Johan Östgren; Hugo Lövheim; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Demographic change is leading to a higher proportion of older adults in most parts of the world. A minority of older adults have poor health, but this group has high care needs due to frailty and/or multimorbidity. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Development and application of competing risks and multi-state models in cancer epidemiology

    Författare :Nikolaos Skourlis; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Competing risks and multi-state models allow us to study complex disease settings and answer composite research questions and should be used more widely in epidemiology. This thesis aims to explore the competing risks and multi-state models areas using flexible parametric survival models (FPSMs), studying several aspects, such as the choice of timescale, choice of multi-state structure, sharing information across transitions by imposing restrictions in the estimation of the parameters, as well as communicating the results of such models to a wider audience and evaluating the use of recurrent multi-state structures in the area of recurrent events when a terminal event is present. 4. 14. Evaluation of Swedish Ice Cleat Distribution Programs : From Program Design to Ice Cleat Use

    Författare :Robin Holmberg; Carl Bonander; Johanna Gustavsson; Mikael Svensson; Agneta Larsson; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; program evaluation; ice cleats; anti-slip devices; usage rates; older adults; Risk and Environmental Studies; Risk- och miljöstudier;

    Sammanfattning : Winter conditions, characterized by snow and lowered temperatures, can make travel by foot difficult. Older adults aged 65 and above are especially at risk of slipping and falling on icy or snowy surfaces. Minor falls can result in severe injuries due to their frailty. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Bayesian Survival Analysis Based on MCMC Method and its Application in Reliability

    Författare :Jing Lin; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Quality is the topic of the day in the 21st century. As one of the pivotal taches for quality assurance, reliability considerations are playing a particularly important role. LÄS MER
