21. An experimental study on the dynamics of melt-water micro-interactions in a Vapor explosion
Sammanfattning : Vapor explosion as a result of Molten Fuel-Coolant Interactions (MFCI) postulated to occur in certain severe accident scenarios in a nuclear power plant presents a credible challenge on the plant containment integrity. Over the past several decades, a large body of literature has been accumulated on vapor explosion phenomenology and methods for assessment of the related risk. LÄS MER
22. Method and technique development in peptide and protein mass Spectrometry
Sammanfattning : Mechanistic studies and applicability of several methods and techniques for studying peptides and proteins with mass spectrometry are presented. A model for the protein molecular ion formation in explosive matrix-assisted plasma desorption mass spectrometry is proposed, involving a contribution from the chemical energy release during conversion of the explosive, an enhanced protonation through collisions with products from the explosive decay, and electron scavenging by other products. 23. Analyses of Dose-Response and Mechanistic Action of Different Anti-Cancer Drugs for Neuroendocrine Tumor Cell Lines
Sammanfattning : Cancer is a disease with poor response rates on available treatments. Problems with resistance and intolerance against cancer drugs are major reasons for failure of the drugs. The need to discover new cancer drugs is important. In this thesis screening of new cancer drugs and evaluation of their mechanism of action are discussed. LÄS MER
24. Quaternary structure and interaction approaches to allosteric regulation of class I ribonucleotide reductases
Sammanfattning : Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) chains in which our genetic blueprint is stored are built from four DNA precursors by DNA polymerases. The enzyme ribonucleotide reductase (RNR) provides the only de novo synthesis pathway of deoxyribonucleotides from ribonucleotides and is essential for nearly all organisms. LÄS MER
25. Regulation of T cell apoptosis by calcium and zinc ions
Sammanfattning : Apoptosis is a major form of cell death involved in fundamental processes in the mammalian immune system. Although extensive studies have been carried out to explore the mechanisms involved in lymphocyte apoptosis, a defined signaling pathway is still unclear. LÄS MER
