  1. 1. The influence of alcohol on bone metabolism and fracture healing

    Författare :Fredrik Nyquist; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kirurgi; traumatology; orthopaedics; Surgery; fracture prediction.; fracture healing; bone mineral density; Alcohol; post-traumatic osteopenia; fracture; ortopedi; traumatologi; Skeleton; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : The influence of alcohol on bone metabolism, fracture and fracture healing was evaluated in men and male rats by measurements of bone mineral density (BMD), biochemical markers and biomechanical testings. Retrospectively, 199 male patients hospitalized for tibia shaft fractures were studied. Forty-nine were judged as problem drinkers. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Metaphyseal Fracture Healing

    Författare :Olof Sandberg; Per Aspenberg; Aaron Schindeler; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Most of what is known about fracture healing comes from studies of shaft fractures in long bones. In contrast, patients more often have fractures closer to the ends (metaphyses). Here most bone tissue has a spongy, cancellous structure different from the compact bone of the shaft. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Experimental studies on fracture healing. Biological and biomechanical aspects

    Författare :Hans Mark; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :fracture; intramembranous; endochondral; ossification; neovascularization; fracture fixation; fracture stability;

    Sammanfattning : Considerable advances have been made in the knowledge regarding fracture healing and treatment duringrecent decades. Nevertheless, in 5-10 per cent of fractures, there are healing complications leading to complextreatment conditions, discomfort for patients and considerable costs. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On the quantification of healing in asphalt materials

    Författare :Remya Varma; Nicole Kringos; Romain Balieu; Lily Poulikakos; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Healing; bitumen; mastic; viscoelastic strain; viscoplastic strain; fracture; creep and recovery; Läkning; bitumen; mastic; viskoelastisk töjning; viskoplastisk töjning; brott; kryp and återhämtning; Structural Engineering and Bridges; Bro- och stålbyggnad;

    Sammanfattning : Asphalt materials exhibit self-healing characteristics. In order to evaluate the healing capabilities of these materials, numerous investigations are carried out by researchers. These investigations include various definitions of healing and mechanical test methods to quantify the extent of healing. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Malleus fracture : experimental and clinical aspects

    Författare :Anders Niklasson; Krister Tano; Magnus Von Unge; Preben Homøe; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; malleus fracture middle ear human temporal bone laser doppler vibrometry; Oto-Rhino-Laryngology; oto-rhino-laryngologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Patients with malleus fractures are described as rare in the literature. The cause of these fractures are most commonly trauma and digital manipulation of the ear canal, while in some cases the causes are unknown. LÄS MER
