  1. 1. Mille-feuille Filter : A Non-woven Nano-cellulose Based Virus Removal Filter for Bioprocessing

    Författare :Simon Gustafsson; Albert Mihranyan; Jonas Lindh; Kurt Brorson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; virus filtration; mille-feuille; downstream; nanocellulose; protein throughput; protein recovery; LRV; MVM; Cladophora; non-woven filter;

    Sammanfattning : Virus removal filters, produced from synthetic surface-modified polymers or regenerated cellulose by phase inversion, are vital to the production of therapeutic proteins such as monoclonal antibodies and plasma proteins. Use of these filters is also one of the most expensive purification steps in the downstream processing of proteins due to high sales price and being limited to a single use. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Virus retentive filter paper for processing of plasma-derived proteins

    Författare :Lulu Wu; Albert Mihranyan; Margareta Krabbe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; plasma-derived biologics; human serum albumin; human plasma-derived immunoglobulin; virus removal filtration; Cladophora cellulose; quality control; Engineering Science with specialization in Nanotechnology and Functional Materials; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot nanoteknologi och funktionella material;

    Sammanfattning : The studies in the present thesis explored the feasibility of using nanocellulose-based filters in virus removal filtration of plasma-derived proteins. In Paper I, two-step nanofiltration of commercially available human serum albumin (HSA) product, which was diluted to 10 g L-1 by phosphate buffer saline (PBS) and adjusted pH to 7. 3. 3. Crossflow Microfiltration of particle Suspensions - The influence of hydrodynamics and physico-chemical interactions

    Författare :Ingmar Harald Huisman; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; ceramic membranes; shear-induced diffusion; crossflow microfiltration; silica particles; zeta potential; Livsmedelsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Crossflow microfiltration is a technique to separate suspended particles (or cells or droplets) from liquids by use of a membrane that is permeable for the liquid but impermeable for the particles. The permeate flow drives particles to the membrane surface, where they may be deposited and form a fouling layer. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Physicochemical Treatment of Municipal Wastewater : From Direct Membrane Filtration to Adsorption of Organic Micropollutants

    Författare :Simon Gidstedt; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Direkt membranfiltrering; Granulärt aktivt kol; Avloppsvatten; Kemisk förbehandling; Mikrosilning; Direct membrane filtration; Granular activated carbon; Wastewater; Chemically enhanced primary treatment; Microsieving;

    Sammanfattning : Pharmaceutical residues and other organic micropollutants are transported via municipal wastewater to wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). However, current treatment processes are not designed to remove organic micropollutants, and several such compounds have been found in recipients, where they can have negative effects on aquatic organisms. 5. 5. Filtration of soft particles

    Författare :Botond Csontos; Andreas Cronhjort; Hanna Bernemyr; Jim Barker; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Sammanfattning : The transportation industry relies heavily on fossil fuels, a dependency that isnot sustainable for the future. The easiest way to change this dynamics is to userenewable fuels, such as biodiesel or hydrotreated vegetable oils, which can be usedas drop-in fuel or blends, without engine modifications. LÄS MER
